Blessings

On Thanksgiving Day, it just feels right to shine a light on our blessings.

What have you been blessed with? Too often we brush past our good fortunes. We shrug them off, tuck them in a corner, and barely give them a nod—when really, they deserve a place of honor.

And honestly, we hardly ever celebrate them.

Most of us have been conditioned to focus on all the so-called “curses” we’ve run into, even though they don’t come close to outweighing our blessings. We spend more time noticing what’s not working instead of taking in everything that is.

That’s actually why I created the recording called I LOVE MY BODY—it’s free here on the channel. It’s just an exercise in self-appreciation and acceptance. Because have you ever stopped and really considered everything your body does for you? It’s pretty extraordinary. It deserves a little celebration.

Shifting from feeling cursed to feeling blessed is a move many people never make. They stay stuck in tunnel vision and miss out on the wide-open vistas that “blessed” reveals.

And this isn’t some lecture on positive thinking. It’s actually about simple arithmetic. You have more blessings in stock than you ever tally up, and ignoring them is like starving at a Thanksgiving table loaded with tasty food.

There’s an old song I’ve grown to love more and more over the years—Count Your Blessings. My favorite version is on Diana Krall’s Christmas album. I’m adding it to my Apple Music today.

Counting my blessings is something I do every night before bed. There’s no better time to feed your mind the good stuff than right before you drift off.

If there’s one small shift you can make that truly changes your direction, it’s this: change your focus.

So may I offer one simple strategy? As the song says, “Count your blessings instead of sheep.”

All the best,

John
