What Fuels You?

If I were looking for a label to stick on me, “Sentimental” is the one I’d choose – It fits me to a "T."

Truth be told, I’m a romantic at heart — and maybe even a tad old-fashioned.

I still hold doors open for people. I take my time sorting through greeting cards that actually say what I’m feeling. And I take note of people’s special dates so I can write or say something meaningful when they show up on the calendar.

Birthdays, anniversaries, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day . . . I’m here for all of it. And if there were such a thing, Hallmark would probably list me as “customer of the year.”

But being sentimental is more than a label for me — it’s a power source. It fuels me. Funny thing is, I didn’t realize that until a few years ago. I just thought it was a personality trait, not something that actually drives me.

I guess I could run on higher- or lower-octane fuel, but sentimental seems to be the blend that works best for me.

This is not a plea to switch over to my brand of gasoline. It’s just a gentle nudge to get you curious about what fuels you.

It’s a fun discovery and something worth celebrating.

All the best,

John
