Become A “Yes” Man . . . Or Woman

Have you ever noticed it actually takes more energy to disagree than to agree?

Saying yes is easier than saying no. And yet—at least for me—no seems to win the day.

For a long time, my theory was this: it’s easier to backtrack from a no than it is from a yes. Taking back a yes usually brings disappointment. Taking back a no? That’s often met with relief . . . even celebration.

That logic might work when you’re raising teenagers. But in everyday life? I think it’s a bit outdated.

When it comes to living a fuller life, yes feels like the better answer.

Saying yes more often opens the door to more opportunities. Now there’s no guarantee they’ll all work out—but you can be sure they’ll show up far more often than if you keep saying no.

Years ago, I started conditioning myself to say yes more often. And yes . . . it’s still a work in progress.

But it’s a reliable way to be exposed to more of what the world has to offer. No just screams, “Stop the world—I want to get off.”

So let me ask you: looking for more opportunity in the New Year . . . yes or no?

If you answered no, you’ll likely keep the life you already have. If you answered yes—pack your bags. You’re heading out on a new journey.

All the best,

John
