Direct Your Thinking

Let me be clear—this isn’t about “positive thinking.”

You’ve heard that before.

And sure, feeling positive is great . . . but trying to force positive thinking? That nearly always falls flat.

What I want to address is something more useful . . . how your thinking actually works.

If you want better results from your thinking, it starts with better questions.

Because questions?
They pull in your curiosity.
They wake up your creativity.

But here’s the catch . . . If you keep asking the same old questions, you’re going to keep getting the same old answers.

So if you find yourself asking,

“Why does this always happen to me?”

Guess what your mind does?

It goes to work . . . and hands you a list of reasons why it does always happen to you.

Not exactly helpful.

Your mind is basically a question-and-answer machine.

So the real move is to start giving it better questions to work on.

Here’s a simple shift: Ask “how” . . . instead of “why.”

“How” moves you forward.
“Why” tends to drag you backward.

“How can I be a better parent?”
“How can I make more money?”
“How can I make this situation better?”

Now you’re engaging the part of your brain that actually solves problems—
not the part that just keeps you stuck explaining them.

So maybe it’s time to take the director’s chair . . . and start giving your thinking some direction.

You might be surprised how quickly the scene starts to change.

P.S. If you want to take a deeper dive into asking better questions, check out my friend Doug O’Brien’s YouTube channel. The link in the notes.
