The Truth Is Still The Truth

I remember reading something from Don Miguel Ruiz . . . and one line just kind of stuck with me.

“The truth is still the truth whether you believe it or not.”

And I remember thinking . . . yeah . . . that’s it.

Because we throw that word around a lot – truth.
“My truth.” “Your truth.”

But if it’s actually “the truth” . . . there aren’t versions of it.

There’s just . . . the truth.

And then he said something else that hit from the other side –

“Lies only exist because we believe them. If we don’t believe in them, they disappear.”

And that’s interesting, right? Because now you’ve got this contrast –
Lies need our belief to survive . . . truth doesn’t.

Truth just is.

It doesn’t need your vote. It doesn’t need your agreement. It just stands there . . . whether you acknowledge it or not.

So the way I see it – Lies can vanish the moment we stop buying into them . . .
But truth?

Truth’s not going anywhere.

And here’s the part that’s worth sitting with—

Real truth . . . doesn’t have an equal and opposite argument that can hold up.

It just doesn’t.

So when I look at my own beliefs – and probably yours too –
 a lot of them . . . aren’t actually true.

They’re inherited.
They’re conditioned.
They’re opinions that got comfortable.

And that’s okay. Seriously. It’s okay to have beliefs that don’t hold water.

But the moment we start calling those beliefs truth . . .
that’s when things get a little messy.

Because now we’re defending something that can’t actually stand.

And yeah . . . you can do that.

Just don’t be too surprised if you end up . . . all wet.

All the best,

John
