Why Success Feels Empty
Achievement is something that can be measured. Fulfillment is a feeling.
It's easy to spend your life with the ruler out, measuring accomplishments. But if there are no feelings attached to them, you're just an empty barrel making lots of noise.
Some people don't even give themselves credit for what they've achieved. They brush it aside (ah, that's nothing) and move on to the next goal. They forget to stop and bask in the feeling of what they've accomplished.
Others go in the opposite direction. They can't stop talking about their achievements. The word braggadocios comes to mind. But look a tiny bit closer and you'll often discover there's no feeling of home in that empty house.
Maybe that's why "Stop and smell the roses" has become such a familiar saying. It's a reminder not just to notice what you've accomplished, but to actually sense it – feel it.
Because it's the feeling that's fulfilling – not the facts, the figures, or the ever-expanding list of accomplishments.
So take a little time to make your house a home.
Don't just measure your life. Feel it. That's where fulfillment lives.
All the best,
John
