What If You're Wrong?
A question popped into my head last night, and I couldn't shake it.
What if everything you believe is wrong?
Now, I'm not talking about things like gravity. I'm talking about those beliefs you've carried around for years . . . the ones you're convinced are true.
The question made me stop and ask myself, How attached am I to what I believe?
So I made a list.
I wrote down five beliefs that felt carved in stone and ranked them from strongest to weakest.
Then another question showed up.
If I had to let one of these beliefs go, which one would I choose?
It's funny. The beliefs we defend the hardest are often the ones that weigh the most.
We argue for them. We protect them. Sometimes we carry them around long after they've stopped serving us.
That's when I realized something.
Just because a belief has been with me for years doesn't mean it still belongs with me today.
Some beliefs have an expiration date. We just forget to check it.
So here's something you might try.
Write down your five strongest beliefs. Then look at them one by one and ask, Do I still know this is true . . . or have I simply believed it for a long time?
You may discover there's one or two you've already outgrown.
And once you let them go . . .
You'll be surprised how much lighter you feel.
All the best,
John
