All right. Welcome back to another episode of the Johnny's World Podcast. This is your co-host, BW, with my co-host Johnny. Johnny, how are we doing today?
SPEAKER_00Oh, doing doing well. BW just got back from a from a trip to from the happiest place on earth. So you got to be happy about that. Uh, it was awesome.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, too bad. You had to you had to deal with that in person, that loss in person this past weekend. So you got to almost end on a high note there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, oh man, I'll I'll I'll hit on that in a little bit. I have to tell you about uh tell you about the trip. So this was my 20th year anniversary, BW. It's pretty hard to believe. Uh after college, I I moved down to Orlando and did an internship working at Disney and lived down there from August of 05 to January of 06. So exactly 20 years from right now. And man, I would never picture back then that I'd be still alive 20 years later and doing um and going down there to celebrate my 20-year anniversary. Pretty, pretty hard to believe. But uh, but yeah, it was a lot of fun, did a lot of stuff that that uh is obviously has changed a lot in 20 years. But I worked at a traction called One Man's Dream. It was at Hollywood Studio at Hollywood Studios. It's a museum dedicated to Walt Disney uh with a film at the end narrated by Julie Andrews. And uh pretty much I did the theater spill. Hello, welcome to the Walt Disney Theater Police Selector Old that sort of stuff. Answer questions throughout the exhibit. We always got the most weird questions about Walt Disney being frozen, his head buried in the castle, just crazy stuff. Um, man, it's the exact same. Like obviously, it's different people working there. Uh, met a guy there that's been there 43 years. He worked at the great movie ride. So he was there when I was there, but we didn't work together. But uh man BBW, I meant to talk about this last podcast when we were talking about Disney uh and me working there. Uh, my good friend, he's he's no longer with us. He passed away a few years ago. Uh his name was Jerry Myers. I want to talk about him. He was uh he was a retired homicide detective in Connecticut. And uh he and his wife, who also was a cop, moved down to Orlando and and started working at Disney. They were kind of snowbirds, I guess you could say. And they had two two two sons. One was a professional bass fisherman and one worked in the Secret Services. Uh the professional bass fisherman roommate was Tim McGraw in college. He didn't even know who that was. Jerry is if you look if you watch the episode of Dragnet, Jerry looks just like a character on Dragnet. He looked like he would walk, I mean, he literally would walk in the back of one man's dream outside and smoke a cigarette and come back in. I mean, he looked just like a typical cop. And man, we had so much fun together. We'd be working, and and I'd be like, uh, before the theater spiel, I'd be like, uh uh, today's Jerry's uh uh birthday. Jerry, Jerry, tell everybody what you got for your birthday. And we just have so much fun. There was another guy that worked with us, he was uh uh pretty stick, uh he just stuck to the rules. Didn't like to have fun pretty much. And he looked like Ned Flanders on The Simpsons, and uh he he was like always trying to get people in trouble, tattletale, and all this sort of stuff. So me and Jerry had a good time working. Uh it's just funny how I mean that guy, one time we we had a I got a funny story to talk about this real quick. Uh we had uh where where the podium is at one man's dream, there was a little light bulb there, and when the light bulb goes off, that means the phone's ringing. Well, uh, so it wouldn't make any noise. Well, at that particular day, uh when I was working there, the light bulb was not working, and uh there was just like some three wires. So I was standing there waiting for the people to come in. I was kind of bending the wires back. Well, after, and nothing to it, you know, you just bend it right back and put the bulb in there, but there wasn't a bulb there. So then I got called out of position because you the way it worked is uh we had different spots in the uh attraction, and when someone clocks off, clocks in, it bumps someone to the next position. So I moved over to greeting or something like that, and someone else moved. Well, John, the the the guy I was talking about, um moved up behind us, the tattletale. So he comes up and he sees the wires uh because I forgot to move them back, he sees them all uh out of place. Man, he calls the uh Disney bomb squad pretty much. The cops come there, he reports, he's like, We got destruction of Disney property here, blah, blah, blah, all this sort of stuff. And I'm like, You gotta be kidding me. And so I tell Jerry what's going on. Jerry, he was laughing about it. And I was nervous because, like, man, they they said if you mess up or anything, they would come to their apartment and move all your stuff on the street, and you have to be out the next day. So I was like, man, this is crazy. So anyway, the the cop, Disney cops come and I talk to them, tell them what's going on. Like, look, there's nothing wrong. Like, there was someone replaced the bulb, and I was just sitting there playing with the wire before, forgot to move it back. It's no big deal. And the and the cops looked at me and they're like, You're right, this is no big deal. Who called this in? And I was like, That this John guy over there. He goes, You need to tell him, unless it's something major, do we have other stuff we have to worry about, and don't don't call us. I mean, it was literally the bomb squad people at Disney. And I was like, sure. So I told John, I was like, Yeah, uh, don't don't call on them because they said that was a waste of their time. He looked at me, he goes, I was just doing my job. What would Walt say? And I was like, Oh my gosh. We had we had to deal with people like that, like tattletale people, and then we had high school people that worked sometimes, uh just a wide variety of people. But Jerry was by far my favorite one, and we always had a lot of fun. He he um he called me uh a few years ago, left me a message. It was like, hey John, Jerry Myers here on uh Friday night, Friday night lights, southern boy football. I bet you're at a high school football game, and uh just wanted to call him and BS with you about uh about pulmonologists, and he ended up dying of uh emphysema from smoking. Uh great guy, and uh he uh we just we just had a lot of uh a lot of fun times. Matter of fact, one time when I went down there to visit our friend uh Matt Wiley one year, uh I called up Jerry and he he's like, Let's go eat. I was like, all right, where are we going to eat? He goes, I'm taking the cracker barrel because I know that's where you southern boys like to eat. It was it was a trip, man, a lot of fun. But yeah, it's crazy. No one works there anymore except for for that one guy. But uh he got to show me there there is a mirror in the closet and uh where the closet where we had our storage in there pretty much, and he he shows us the mirror, and he said that uh one night uh they got to work the next day and the mirror was upside down, like it was crooked, and it moved during the night. So that guy's convinced that Walt did it. He was like, Yep, Walt did it, no doubt. And uh I'm not uh we haven't touched the mirror since. Okay, he was he was a he was a diehard. He ended up getting a uh uh legacy pin, which means you you go beyond the call of duty to to service guests at the at the at Disney. And he was he was very friendly and and uh he got that. But uh and man, it was a lot of fun, went to all the different parks, uh, did a lot of stuff I've not done, ate a lot of restaurants I've not been to before, but a lot of stuff I've done. Uh we we we uh went and did it again, went to the my apartment complex where I lived at. Um man, I lived at a place called the Commons. It's over there in Lake Buena Vista, Little Lake Brine is the name of it. And man, it was I was the only American in the entire complex. So uh they no longer is no longer uh Disney property now. Uh the Disney College program, they actually live on Disney property, and uh that is just a regular apartment complex now. But uh 20 years later, man, it looks the same. They've kept it up to date. It's really nice. And talked to some people there that that live there. They have a uh dog wash and a car wash right next to each other. Pretty funny at the apartment complex. You can get your dog room and get your car wash at the same time. Uh nice. Yeah, that was that was fun. And then uh and then Saturday, we made the made the trip up to up to Gainesville and stopped by the Cap Sig house as my mom's a Capstic house mom. Now I wanted to meet the Cap Sig house mom there, which we did. And man, it's just a different environment. You know, people at Mississippi State, they had Parents' Weekend. I know in Parents Weekend here, you know, people of state usually frat guys wear collared shirts and uh khakis or or jeans or shorts, stuff like that. Man, everybody in the in the uh Florida Cap Sick House guys had on football, either basketball or football jerseys and jean shorts. You know, you hear that that Florida fans wear jean shorts or dorts or whatever. Yeah, dude, it's legit. Everybody there had jerseys and jean shorts on. Wow. I don't know if that's just different culture or what, but uh super nice people, um, really, really nice. I know we uh we stood out wearing maroon. I'm sure people wonder what we were doing doing there. I started talking to the president and his his uncle and my mom graduated high school together, so did not know that. So we put two and two together that he had relatives in Canton and uh just missing the connections everywhere. So uh we ended up getting to be friends, what numbers and everything. And uh just a great day. We went and ate a place called Satchels Pizza that I eaten with uh our buddy Matt Wiley when we when we used to go down the games for a lot. It's uh great pizza place. They have a Volkswagen uh van outside. You can eat a pizza inside the van, uh pretty neat. Um, but it's just uh it's really cool. Uh uh hippie vibe place, pretty much, and uh good pizzas and stuff like that. And then and then went up to the Game BW and uh uh well, I'll dive into that here in a little bit. But uh first just uh give you a little update on on CF as far as what I was saying, you know, 20 years ago, would have never imagined when I was working in the fall of 2005, the fall of 2025, 20 years later, I'd still be on this earth and especially still be able to go to Disney and do rides and stuff like that. It's just really hard to believe. And I mean, it's all because of uh of prayer and and and God, but just uh in in modern medicine. Uh tricatha, you know, it's not a not a cure by any means. Yesterday, celebrated my six-year anniversary, took it for the first time six years ago yesterday. I had that purge, what they call, where I coughed up all that crap in my lungs for for 30 plus years. And uh it's just uh it's it's a miracle drug, you know. People today, kids today that get on it, they're not gonna know what CF was like, uh like it was me growing up. I mean, they're just I have irreversible lung damage, but I'm just thankful I can get on it when I got on it, thank God, uh, because I was close to having a transplant. And these kids today are just really gonna be benefiting off of it. But as we say every week, it doesn't, it won't treat everybody. There's 10% that they can't take it, and they're dying, literally dying for a miracle drug. SPEAKER_00Yes, indeed. And if you ever go to go to Disney in October, I highly suggest you go to Mickey's Not So Scary. I I did that 20 years ago and then went 10 years ago and then went back again. This is my third time. And uh man, it's a really cool thing. Uh I was telling you earlier the the if you want to go to Disney and not stand in line for rides, that's the time to do it. Because uh they have two parades, 8 p.m., 11 p.m. If I worked at 10. If you go do the rides during the um during the 8 p.m. parade, there's no wait. So BW, I got to do all the rides at Magic Kingdom. It was really cool. Parades are awesome. Uh a lot of good a lot of fun times. Uh but uh it's uh it's changed a lot, and there's just it's just so busy now. But you literally have to plan your plan, like you said, we talked about before, you have to plan your trip before you go, right? Get your food, get your dining reservation scheduled, right? The lightning passes, all that sort of stuff. It's kind of I mean, uh me and Wild Matt Wiley used to do Disney. We would we would drive up to Gainesville from Gainesville to Orlando Sunday morning, right when the park opened, and by Sunday evening, we would have done all four parks and all the rides. It's impossible to do that this day in time.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Impossible. But uh but it was a lot of fun. But getting to the game, BW, uh, you know, I I'm I'm very, very frustrated along with everybody else. The game, well, we played like crap pretty much. I mean, I looked at the I looked at the scoreboard and we had seven points. I'm like, come on, you cannot win a football game in SEC with seven points, and and it's in the second half. Like, what are we doing? And but but Florida is just awful, man. I would never have seen the day. I remember going down there when we were in college, we got beat 52 to nothing. It was 28-0 into the first quarter. I mean, Florida is just absolute garbage. And Billy Naper, I mean, the fans are chanting, fire Billy. Uh, I mean, it's just insane. They're wanting, they wanted Florida to lose so they could fire Billy. They end up firing him. The third time that's happened, you know, Mal Zahn and then uh Jimbo Fisher and now Billy Naper all beat us and they got fired right afterwards. So they're doing the opposite of Kroom. You know, Kroom used to win and then they get Kroom, but man, it's just embarrassing, man. That was just absolutely embarrassing game. Can't say enough things about it. I hate to be negative, BW, but it deserves to be negative, man. We play like garbage, and then you finally get it together at the end of the game, and lo and behold, Florida makes a bone-headed move with Lagway. It looks like they can put the game away third and one, and they roll out and we we tackle them, we stop him, and we get the ball back. I'm like, what in the world? You know, and now you can see why Billy and Apr is getting fired. I mean, this is a stupid play. I mean, it's like dumb and dumber on the sidelines between both teams, coaches, and and then we come back and we're we're driving down the field, and uh, it's just amazing. Like, it was funny, BW. I know how you're like this too. Like, every time I would watch the action on the field, we do something stupid. But if I watched the jumbotron, we would do we would do all right. Oh man, yeah. So, and where where I was sitting, the stadium, I remember 20, whatever, 24 years ago, Swamp was awesome. I really loved it. Man, it's kind of a dump now. They really haven't done any upgrades to it or anything. And it's just I would say Davis Wade is nicer than the Swamp, which is crazy to say, but it's just they haven't really done him any updates to it and anything. But man, he had to stand the whole game. He couldn't see the action on the on the right on the far side of the field. He had to watch the jumbo tron. But that last possession, man, I was watching the jumbo tron, watching the jumbo tron, and then and then I start watching the field, and every time we do something stupid, and and uh but man, you know, we get the get the ball down there, and I just cannot believe what I saw them do. I mean, literally, all you have to do is run the ball, kill, spike the ball. Well, let's say run the ball, spike the ball, kick the ball, win the game. That's all you do. All you do is simple, man. And they made it so complicated. I just do not understand it. I'm so mad, I'm still mad a week later, that that we lost that game. BW. There's no excuse. And any any program who's serious about football would probably fire the coach. That would be a powerful offense for what they did. But I mean, we're in a situation right now where I think Levy knows he's safe because there's so many job openings across the country. Um, and it's just uh, but man, he's just if he keeps doing stuff like that, he's just hurting himself. Somebody's gonna want a coach like that. It's just golly, man. I I I'll let you start talking. I could go on and on. It's so mad about Levy and just the whole situation.
SPEAKER_01Well, well, Saturday you were off the Levy train. Uh are you are you still off the Levy train?
SPEAKER_00I'm off. I'm off, BW. I'm at take the Levy to the train station with Cole Howser and Yellowstone, man. Take it, take it, get him out of here, man. I'm off. I'm so off right now. Like he's the dumbest coach in college football, no doubt in my mind. I mean, uh don't get me riled up, BW. I'll get riled up. I mean, what what kind of idiot that calls a pass play when you're in a field goal range? I don't get it. I do not understand it. And he, dude, if I was Cal Ferry, I'd enter the portal today. Sunday, I would have been in the portal. That just shows you had no trust in his kicker. And maybe it's because he missed the first kick. But man, like watching that kick, it looked like it was good. Uh it was over the top upright. And I read about read up on it and said that uh said that if it's over the upright at the top, they can't, it's non-reviewable. So that's pretty crazy rule. I never heard of that. But I mean, and he he had made a kick the Southern Miss game. I think he broke the record for the longest kick in school history. Um, so I mean the guy can kick the ball. I mean, I just don't know why he didn't have any faith in him. It would have been a 46-yard field goal. I guess he was trying to get closer, but man, when you're in that situation and the clocks, I mean just and the guy and shaping, who was he throwing to? Did you see who was throwing to? It was like no guy there. Nobody.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I've read so far. Like, you think Shapin, you didn't have money on the game or bought. I mean, I mean, it's just insane. Like, I I just man, I'm I'm I'll so so riled up Saturday after the game. I'm getting riled up again right now, thinking about it. It's just like, man, we could be six and one, man. Six and one. You know, we do this stupid fumbling against Tennessee, which, you know, that's fine. And the Florida game, man, I would have been all right losing the game at that point if we kicked the field goal and missed it. You know, that's the thing. I would have been fine missing the field goal and losing the game. But the fact that you're right there and you don't even get a chance to kick the ball, it's just mind-boggling, man. It's just I can't wrap my mind around it. It's one of the dumbest plays. I've watched Mississippi football since I was 11 years old, BW. I've been a Dalhardt Bulldog fan, seeing lots of losses, more losses than wins. That was the dumbest play I've ever seen in my life, man. I just I just cannot believe it. Can't believe it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you know, people always say, Oh, you're a Mississippi State fan, and you know, what's it like being a Mississippi State fan? I feel like I want to say that on my phone and be like, this is what it's like right here. Exactly. Just show that to them. Um, that's exactly it.
SPEAKER_00But I heard I heard something today uh that is a great uh comparison. Um I'll I'll push it back from when we were in college. So, all right, that but picture this being uh we're at a basketball game, all right. Me and you, we're just watching Miss B. Say basketball. Say we're playing Kentucky, all right. Comes down to the wire, it's down to the last few seconds. We have the ball. Uh that there is a timeout call. We're drawing up a play, and say it's the team we like so much. Timmy Bowers, Lawrence Roberts, that that that crew, Shane Power, all those guys. Uh what was the big guy on that team that we didn't that wasn't very good? Marcus Campbell, I believe was his name.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00All right, Timmy Bowers is our go-to guy. You're gonna get the ball when the game's online. Timmy Bowers, let him shoot the three. He's gonna win the game. And this is like we called a timeout, right? And we set up a play for Marcus Campbell to shoot a three-pointer. It's the same sort of deal. You got Timmy Bowers over there, give him the ball, do it, run the ball, kick the field goal. I mean, it's just something stupid. Be like, be like not giving the ball to Josh Harper at the end of the game, but give it to somebody like Jimmy Bell or something like that, and shoot a three. That's like, yeah, how? This guy's getting paid millions of dollars. How? I mean, what in his mind is he thinking? And then it really makes me mad, BW, is after the game, he said, I love the play call, just didn't love the execution. Oh, yeah. What you love to play call? You screwed up, dude. Screwed up. Just admit all how hard is it to admit? I think if he had admitted and be like, look, guys, I I messed up. We should have run the ball and spot that's on me. If he had taken the blame, I think a lot of the fan base would have been like, okay, you know what? He admitted he did something wrong. The fact that he said he loved it, I mean, it's just ignorant, man. It's like uh it's something like Chris Lamonis would have said, man. It's like Chris Lamonas 2.0, man, in my opinion. It's just like like they're they're just oh just makes me so mad, man. Like uh people that that I guess that's just his personality, just just do just own up for it, man. We screw up, just own up for it. And I think uh a lot of people are mad, man. A lot of people are mad like this and wanting to get rid of him. But like we said, we're not gonna be able to get rid of him. You can't get anybody, everybody's needing a coach right now, everybody's firing everybody. Uh we just stuck with him. And but man, 0-15 in the SEC is just horrific. And he's 0-11. I mean, I don't see it getting any better. I mean, I I just I don't know, PW. I don't know. It's bad.
SPEAKER_01Well, Johnny, you know, we uh obviously last year was was terrible.
SPEAKER_00And um we were we are in the ball game.
SPEAKER_01We all given that and we were all calling for uh Coleman Hutler's head last year. Well, you know, he didn't fire him. And the defense is better. Yes, the defense is better. Um, and you know, it like you said, we're not we can't do anything else right now. Right. All you can hope is that this is a learning experience, and you know, he becomes a better coach for it. Right games on the line, next. Next year, you know, similar situation. He runs the ball, we kick the field goal, we make it. You know, that's that's all we can hope at this point. And if we're talking about the same stuff this time next year, then I'm off. So I'm not off yet. Like I I think I like where we are. Like we're in these games, we just need to start winning them.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_01And I'll be much happier. But but I actually enjoy watching the games this year. Of course, I did not enjoy the way that game turned out. Right. At least like it's competitive, and I'm not turning it off in the second quarter like we're getting blown up by Toledo, you know.
SPEAKER_00So like Yeah, yeah, that's the bright side to look at things. We're and that and I think we said that at the beginning of the year. I was like, man, we're fine with having a uh uh down season again as long as we're in these games and we're fighting and not giving up. And man, we're in the games. Uh, but the bad thing about the Florida game is they were just they that's the worst Florida team I think I've ever seen. And they literally just said, here, we don't want this game, you take it. And we could do it.
SPEAKER_01It's like that was the worst thing for me, honestly. Was the fact that they didn't want to win the game, right? They the coach was gonna get fired, everybody knew it. And then the whole time on the broadcast, they're talking about the injuries, how Florida they're playing freshman, you know, in in the secondary, like they don't have anybody. Literally, they have Lagway and Bond, the running back, that's good. Nobody else was good. I mean, they literally talked about the whole game how beat up they were, and we still couldn't capitalize on that, right? Um, and that's what it was just embarrassing like to lose that game, knowing what was about to happen to that program. So that that's kind of what what made it worse for me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, um I heard I heard Hate had them mentioned on their podcast the other day that that that that the way that we lost that game with what you were just saying, that they like Florida wanted to lose the game. The fans are booing Napier, firing Napier, the whole game. He's getting booed off the field. He was like, Man, that's up there. I don't think that up there would possibly be worse than us losing the main in 04. Like it's that bad, that embarrassing. And I I agree with him. I agree with him. It's just it's just you can't lose a game like that. And and but you know, like we just said, like if you had kicked a field goal and missed it, that's fine. That's fine. But the way that it went down, just like literally, I felt like like Napier and Levy were Jeff Daniels and and uh Jim Carrey, dumb and dumber on both sidelines. Like it's like who could be dumber, you know. Like, here, you want me to show you this third and one, we'll run out to the side and get tackled. Here, hold my beer, I'll show you something crazier. Well, yeah, it's like yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, what was so after the after the game, like when it ended, what was it like? I mean, like, were you with a bunch of Mississippi State fans? Were there a bunch of people around you? Like, what? Yeah, were Florida fans excited? Like, what you know, what what happened with that?
SPEAKER_00Literally, uh, right after the game, I was sitting in the Mississippi State section, literally right after the game. Oh, yeah, they had this funny chant, man. I've never heard them do this chant before. They whenever they would get a pen, we'd get a penalty, they would say, Move back, you suck, move back, you suck. And like over and over. I'm like, it's just kind of weird thing. It's not like they were saying, Move back your stuff.
SPEAKER_01What's the thing they're doing? They kept showing them, they were like kind of moving their fingers like they were kind of like, is that what they were doing?
SPEAKER_00I asked him about that. The guy sitting next to me was a Florida guy. I asked him, he said it was the baby chomp. I never heard of that. I don't know. Baby chomp. Baby chomp is what he said. I don't know. That was really weird. But uh, could you hear that on the broadcast, them sound saying, Move back you suck? It sounded like they said move back your stuff, but they were I couldn't, I could never hear him saying that. No, yeah, they they were saying every time we get a penalty, but uh, but man, after the game was over with, I was in the state section, literally, all the stakes section people were just shocked, shaking their heads, cussing mad, just everything. And all the Florida fans immediately, right when the interception happened, the game ended, they were saying fire Billy. The entire stadium was like fire Billy, like and just booing them. I've never seen anything like that. They weren't even like celebrating in the standards before the game. I took a video of it walking out into the concourse, getting leaving the stadium. The entire uh student body really uh next to us were doing fire billy, the entire stadium was saying it. And Napier was getting booed walking off the field. Man, yeah, it was insane. Never seen anything like that. You just won the game and you're booing. And uh, I can't only imagine, man, there what would have happened if we had kicked the field goal and made it and won the game. I can't they were already mad like that they that they beat us. I can imagine what they would have done then, but it was insane, man. I've never seen anything quite like that atmosphere there.
SPEAKER_01Wow. Well, I didn't intend to talk about this for this long. I was I was trying to move on, but you know, I just think I think we need to get it off our chest.
SPEAKER_00So I was riled up, man. I I don't really get mad at football games anymore. I've I don't really care that much anymore, but I was mad, man. I'm mad. I'm still I was hot, dude, on Saturday after that game. Really, really mad. Been thinking about it all week and still still mad, but I wasn't gonna let it ruin my trip. But it's like yeah, you know, when you're that close and you do something stupid, you just deserve to be called out. And uh just yeah, not a fan of Jeff Levi at all, man. I used to give uh Joe Moorhead hell. Heck, I don't even think Joe Moorhead would have called a pass play there. I think he would have kicked it. I think he would have run in and kicked it. I just just um unreal, man. Unbelievable. But uh, but moving forward, we got moving forward. Texas are we used to be mighty, Texas longhorns coming to town. BW, this is a winnable game. I can't believe I'm saying that. I know beginning of the season, Texas looked high and almighty, top top five team in the country, and then they struggle. I didn't watch it because I was on my way back, but they struggled to beat Kentucky over the weekend. Kentucky is supposed to be worse than us, maybe. And so, I mean, it's hard to bleed saying that Texas is a winnable game, but it really depends on, you know, are the players uh are they like us? Are they still thinking about that loss? Are they are they flushed it and moved on? And you know, it really depends on that. So I think two things could happen, man. I think we could come out there and just absolutely get destroyed, or make our arch manning has been average below average all year, and he'll come out there and be like just showing Tom throwing Tom Brady numbers and uh put up and just blow us out, which would not surprise me at all. Or we could rebound just realize, hey, we just let another game slip away. It's time for us to step up and win a conference game, and we're in this battle again, uh, at home with the crowd or homecoming and put and put Teps Texas on the ropes, man, and and fight. And then if you lose, which we'll be fine with that, man. If we lost to Texas, that's all right. Uh, as long as they keep keep grinding and keep doing it. But man, to come out there and get blown out, man. I'm I'm not sure that might happen. Just depends on how how that loss, Florida loss affected them and everything. But you know, another thing is you're looking for six wins, BW. We got four wins. Yeah, two. And looking on that schedule, you know, I said earlier, Arkansas for sure win. That's on the road. I I at at this point I don't see a win on the rest of our schedule anymore at this moment. Now, could change after Texas game, but man, I I I'm not feeling very confident about it all. If if my personal opinion on this weekend, I think what's gonna happen in the past has always happened. Uh, Arch, everyone's down in him. Oh, he's not doing great. He's not he's gonna put up like four or five touchdowns, throw for over 300, 400 yards, and they're just gonna destroy us. I hope hope that doesn't happen, but I've just just the typical Mississippi State uh mindset I have, you know, stuff like that happens. But uh I don't know. What what are your thoughts on the game?
SPEAKER_01I mean, I agree with you. I I can see it going both ways. Like, I mean, it could I don't think I don't think it'll be a close game one way or the other. I think we either kill them or they kill us. I don't know if there's an in-between. Um, and I honestly have no clue what's gonna happen. Um I I don't know which one of those is gonna happen, but I feel like one of them is. And and I could totally see it being like what you said. I mean, Arch Manning comes out like had it hadn't done anything all year, and then just you know goes crazy. Um, but they looked bad against Kentucky. I mean, they did like I watched the end of that game. Um, they were trying to give that game away. Um I mean, they honestly they Kentucky, I think, was on their one yard line uh in overtime, and they Kentucky just they they stuffed them like they couldn't get across and then Texas is able to win. But I mean it was really close. They uh because if I remember right, the first play of overtime, Kentucky had the ball, they got to the one yard line or somewhere right down in there. Wow, and then they couldn't you know do anything after that. And so I mean, they're definitely beatable. And if that same team that was at Kentucky shows up to see it to play us, then we blow them out 100%. And and if Shapin can hit some deep balls, um if he's more accurate than he has been, then we could certainly do it. I mean, we could go up 21 points on him pretty quick. Um yeah, that that's another issue.
SPEAKER_00We had we had uh we left about three touchdowns on the board in Florida because he was overthrowing the receivers. A lot of the guys had to die for the for the catch. And and when they die for it, they either dropped it or it was overthrown or they caught it, but then they couldn't run because they had to die for it. So it definitely needs to be more accurate.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, so with that said, I have no clue, like I say, what's gonna happen, but I'm just gonna go with what I said at the beginning of the season. Um, we're gonna lose this game, and since I say we're gonna get blown out, it's gonna be 35-7. I think we're we're losing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm I'm gonna say I'm gonna predict the score of BW to be uh be uh Texas uh 52, uh Mississippi State 12. Yeah, I think it's gonna be ugly, man. I think it's gonna be I hope not. I hope not, but uh I think it's gonna be ugly. But but man, what what comes a point? I kind of like what you said just a little while ago. Say you go O for again in the SEC this year, that's two straight years without winning a game. Something's gotta give, man. Like, yeah, it it will come down to next year. Obviously, nothing's gonna happen this year, but something's gotta give. You cannot keep going winless in the conference at this rate. I know he keeps saying we're right there, we're right there, which we are. It seems we gave away two conference games. We are really right there, but eventually we got to come through. And uh man, I hope it's not a blowout like I'm uh kind of projecting it to be. But uh eventually you gotta, and I think once you do get that SEC win off your back, man, I think I think more wins will come. I really do.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, that's what was the most frustrating thing. Is this year seems feels like the the widest open the SEC has been in a long time. We're not in the West, like like we used to have to be. And the the that you know, 2015 team, yeah, uh, you win the conference. I mean, oh yeah, like absolutely. So it's just insane, you know, frustrating. And and and I I'm gonna assume it's gonna stay that way. And so if we can you know take a step in the right direction and level up next year, then you know it'll be awesome.
SPEAKER_00There's really no reason not to. Vanderbilt's the number 10 team in the country, right? Vanderbilt, yeah. Vanderbilt, of course, Diego Favia's gone next year. What does that look like? You know, they'll probably take a step back after having him, but there's no reason you can't get somebody. Look at what Vanderbilt's doing. So uh yeah, you're a quarterback away from from being top 10. Yeah, and I think you said at the beginning of the season, BW, didn't you say we're gonna lose? I remember you were like, we're gonna win a bunch of games, then we're gonna lose a lot of them in a row, and then people are gonna fall off, and then but and that's looking like that might happen.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we just needed to win that Tennessee game.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, make that prediction better. Yeah, that's right. But yeah, we're two plays away, man, from being six and one, and we're we're we're four and three. So uh it's gonna be really difficult to get to be bowl eligible. But uh, I just remember looking up in the second half that game and seeing we had seven points on the board, and I'm thinking, man, this is a conference game. It's the second half. We have seven points. You're not gonna win many conference games, only scoring seven points in the game. And man, going back to what we said before the on the podcast last week in 2010, the last time we were at Florida and we came away with the win, we had uh Chris Ralph and Vic Ballard literally run the ball every single play. I feel like if we had done that with Booth, Booth was tearing it up, man. Like we could have won the game. Oh, yeah. Run the ball, waste the clock, run the clock down, run the ball. I feel like that could have done it, but yeah, uh, it's just uh it's we're beating a dead horse here.
SPEAKER_01But it's just yeah, he was averaging like five yards a carry. Oh, he's that's literally a first down every every single I mean just straight down the field. Like yeah, he had a great game, really good game. Xavier Gayton didn't really do whole much there, right? Yeah, he fumbled, which is disappointing.
SPEAKER_00You you know, everybody talking about losing fluff, we were gonna take a step back, but man, thank god that Booth came back and he just had a really good game. But like you said, if he's averaging five yards a carry, give him the ball, let him run, run, run. And I mean, there's no reason at that end of the game, uh, where you just hand the ball off to him, or shaping uh just goes through and just get in the middle field, draw, and just stop the clock and kick the football.
SPEAKER_01It's just that the guy that made the interception may have been the only Florida player actually playing uh that play.
SPEAKER_00Like that guy was like the ground shook when he when he fell to the ground.
SPEAKER_01That guy was he was huge.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he was a beast, man. Yeah, uh, I'm sure he was shocked just as well as everybody else. It's all in his hands, but uh it's just uh it was uh unreal, man. So yeah, 2010 was a memorable game there, beating Florida by running the ball all the time, and then here we are 15 years later, another memorable game, but for all the wrong reasons. I'll never we'll always remember that game. But uh anyway, it's behind us. We got Texas here. Maybe McConaughey will be here. You know, I heard heard he rented out the landing this weekend, but I think that's a rumor. Uh, if it is, that would be pretty pretty wild if he's here. He wasn't even at the game last year at Texas. Uh find it hard to believe that he would be coming to Mississippi State when Texas is not good. But uh anyway, we'll keep an eye out for him and see it, see if he's here. And uh we'll just hope for the best and hopefully he'll be homecoming. We uh I a lot of people are griping about these 315 games, and yeah, BWL like them, man. You don't have to I kind of do too. You don't have to get there early. They're not 11 a.m. games and they're not late, late at night. We're expecting for everybody to get back home. It's like really perfect weather, and you people say, Oh, we don't have any night games. Well, by the second half, the time goes down and you got night games, so it's kind of like you got a day game and a night game all the time. Yeah, so I agree. I I don't mind it. Seems like we're in that slot 315 every week, which uh hey, it's it's fine with me. But uh was I heard the broadcast was pretty, pretty, pretty bad on on TV. I don't know whether I read that that that that uh it wasn't that great on TV. But anyway, uh we'll see.
SPEAKER_01Uh it's funny, like it wasn't very good, but it but I thought I watched the um the Georgia Ole Miss game and then the Bama, Tennessee. Uh they did some somehow they were doing a good job with the sound where you could hear the band and the the students, like you could hear like the chants, like you kind of felt more like you were in the stadium. It was pretty cool. Like when Georgia um went up on Ole Miss to win, like they were playing their little Georgia song. Like I had never even heard that song before. Um so I thought they did a good idea. Good job, like kind of representing the atmosphere, at least on the other two games I watched. Our our game, you couldn't really like I said, I couldn't tell what they were doing with the little baby gator thing and all that stuff.
SPEAKER_00So well, speaking about Ole Miss, man, I know name is coming up everywhere. And uh, you know, he's got the Florida Ties, he's got to get out of home in Boca Ratan. Uh, and I read where Florida, he's their number one candidate. Wouldn't that be something to get him out of Ole Miss, man? Be the best thing for Missouri State if he could get to it.
SPEAKER_01It would. I don't see it though. I I yeah, I don't know why he would go there. Um the only thing I think really would be LSU or Bama. I think those two are really in the SEC the only ones that would entice him away.
SPEAKER_00Um yeah, I could be wrong, but you know, and hey man, LSU, it could be opening up. I mean, they lost to Vandy, uh Brian Kelly. I think the bow is just ridiculous, though, to get him out, but they got money down there, they could do it. But uh yeah, I can see in there, and heck, his daughter's dating one of the players. I I don't know, but uh man, I'm sure Ole Miss is panicking right now. Uh the AD, Keith Carter just trying desperately to throw out as much money and get him signed up. I know we knew that's how we felt with Mullen all these years. Every year, oh, is he leaving? So where's he going to sign him up? Get him a you know. And what happens when you get a good coach? Lane's one of the best coaches in the country, and and uh and they they deserve to try to keep him if they can because he's done. I mean, I feel like if if I feel like when Lane leaves, that old Miss Brogan's gonna fall back, just like it was before he is, he's the real deal. And I mean, he he had I mean look at I mean they almost beat Georgia. And if they had beat Georgia, man, I think they would have been number two in the country because oh yeah. I mean, Ohio State's not dropping off the one, but I think they would have been up to number two. So uh and they're still I mean, they're still on the playoff hunt. Uh you know, just lost that one game to Georgia. But anyway, I I don't know, it'll be interesting to see. I mean, Florida, uh LSU possibly, Auburn possibly. Auburn's 0-0-4 in the conference. They look like absolutely South Carolina, yeah. Kentucky possibly, Virginia Tech, uh, Oklahoma State, Florida. Penn State. Penn State. It's just like, wow. This is like I said about Levy, he really has no worries this year. He can go out there and make bone-headed calls every week and not worry about his job getting fired this year. Exactly. You know, you can't, but uh, because if he does that, it's just hurting himself because nobody's gonna want him. Uh, but you know, and then James Franklin, I'm sure he's gonna be up on everybody's list. I can't believe they let him go, uh, even though they they were like I could see him at LSU. Yeah, yeah, he he he would fit. I could see that too. But uh, yeah, it's gonna be interesting to see see who goes where, silly seasons, what they call. And then and then I saw a Dan Mullen, you know, they he finally dropped the game after he he jumped off and said, uh, have 0.0 interest in Arkansas. Y'all need to go get Gus Melz on. I was like, man, it's odd that he's tweeting this stuff out the day before the game. Yeah, and he got beat by Boise. But uh I don't know, it'll be interesting if Dan leaves. You know, I don't you can't trust coaches to stay in time. He said he's gonna I plan to be at UNLB, but yeah, that's what he said about state and left the next day to go to Parkis. I can see Dan getting one of these big time jobs too. Uh so it'll be interesting to see what happens. But anyway, it's cool talking about college football, and that's right. It's it's always fun this this time of the year. So uh, but hopefully people will show up for homecoming at Davis Wade and and cheer on the Bulldogs regardless and and just see what happens.
