The La Vernia High School Bears wrestling teams competed with some great opponents Jan. 25. The boys team fell short to the more experienced Veterans Memorial Patriots, but went on the attack against Highlands High School, winning 54- 24, pinning 5 out of 8 opponents, and only losing one match to the Owls. Freshman Antonio Alvarez made his varsity debut by pinning his Patriots opponent to the mat in the second period.
