Reckless driver on U.S. 87 barrels through La Vernia; incident ends at Baldy's Diner

Law-enforcement officers have a wrong-way driver in custody near Baldy’s American Diner on U.S. 87 between La Vernia and Sutherland Springs. Reports from drivers shortly before 1 p.m. indicated the driver of a southbound Dodge Ram pickup with handicapped plates was swerving in and out of the lanes on U.S. 87 and driving the wrong way between the Bexar County line and La Vernia, imperiling other drivers.
