Fear of the future for public schools

Editor: Only a fool would write on this subject but here goes. I fear what is coming for public schools in Texas. The Legislature feels they can’t reach down and do much with these Independent School Districts once some faction takes them over. Teachers in public schools tend to be socialistic in viewpoint because it is them, with no ability to unionize in Texas, against the world. The problems with unions are legion, unfortunately. The overwhelming and overarching problem is lack of involvement by the electorate that determines the members of the public-school boards. That is a very tough clubhouse...
