ESD 4 adds new vehicle to fleet

Wilson County Emergency Services District 4 Supply Officer Caleb Blackwell plugs the Harrison hPower system of the district’s newest ambulance into “shore power” March 1. The battery powers the ambulance module’s advanced EMS equipment — such as a ventilator, IV pump, and cardiac monitor — independently of the engine that transports the unit. Blackwell, an advanced emergency medical technician, explained that the power system eliminates the need to keep the engine running when EMS crews deal with a medical emergency while the vehicle is stationary.
