Lady Mustang softball competes in Jourdanton tournament

The Nixon-Smiley Lady Mustangs traveled to Jourdanton March 6 to participate in their softball tournament. In the Lady Mustangs’ first game against the strong La Vernia Lady Bears (4A), they lost, 12-1. However, freshman starter Bridgette Caldera pitched her first complete game of her young career and drove in the only RBI of the game for the Lady Mustangs. Even though the Lady Mustangs faced defeat, they overcame two significant challenges during the game.
