FELPS employee dies in single-vehicle crash

Floresville Electric Light & Power System (FELPS) employees raise a flag March 13 from the bucket truck of a beloved co-worker, Burton Shields, who lost his life in a car accident earlier that day. According to a report by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Highway Patrol, Shields was traveling south on U.S. 181 near Oak Fields Drive north of Floresville around 7 a.m. last Thursday when his car veered off the road and struck a tree.
