Residents safely evacuate from structure fire in Poth

Smoke flows from a home in Poth March 18 as emergency responders work to extinguish a structure fire which broke out in the back patio area of the residence on North Carroll Street. Poth Police Department Chief Gerald Sanchez responded to the call for a fire around 4 p.m. and called for assistance from the Poth Volunteer Fire Department and Wilson County Emergency Services District 5 Fire & Rescue, after seeing the back part of the residence engulfed in flames. Emergency responders safely evacuated three adults and a dog from the property, but two pet parakeets perished in the fire....
