Editor: Recently, after dark on a Saturday night, I took my husband to an emergency clinic in Floresville. As soon as I told the desk clerk why we were there, she asked if Medicare was our primary insurance. I answered, “Yes, but we have supplemental insurance, too.” She informed us that they did not accept patients who had Medicare as their primary insurer. Our only option was to pay out of pocket.
