Remembering when Espada Mission had a school

Members of the Ripps family don their Espada Mission School Band uniforms for a photo with their instruments in about 1929. The oldest, Cornelius (third from right), was the father of Wilson County News reporter Gregory Ripps, who shared this photo. Cornelius and his siblings grew up on a farm south of San Antonio and attended church and school at Espada, the closest place of worship at the time.
