April is Sexual Assault Awareness month

Thriving Hearts Crisis Center Strategic Management Director Bonnie Ramirez (center) holds a proclamation signed by Wilson County Judge Hank Whitman (r) and the county commissioners (back) during their March 24 meeting, declaring April as Sexual Assault Awareness month. Every 68 seconds, another person in the U.S. is sexually assaulted. Two in five women and one in five men are victims of sexual assault. In fiscal year 2024, Thriving Hearts Crisis Center — based in Seguin and formerly called the Guadalupe Valley Family Violence Shelter — rendered 850 services to 379 survivors of sexual violence.
