Volunteers join American Legion Auxiliary Unit 539 to honor veterans' graves

Volunteers from the St. Hedwig community gathered May 17 in Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Cemetery at 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning to place flags by the gravestones of 208 veterans buried there in preparation for Memorial Day, May 26. Organized by St. Hedwig American Legion Auxiliary Unit 539 Vice President Wanda Polasek and Auxiliary member Judy Booth, the volunteers comprised 20 youth from the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church’s religion classes and East Central High School, as well as 15 adults from the American Legion Auxiliary and community.
