Middle school holds chili cookoff

Heritage Middle School seventh-grade Humanities students hosted the 10th Annual Cattle Drive Chili Cook-Off May 13. Student-created ranches were showcased throughout the library, where each of the 17 groups served their original chili recipe to be judged by parents, teachers, and staff. The award for Best Chili went to Cowgirl Land Ranch, represented by Dru Daniels, Bre’Asia Smith, Sofia Vickers, and Azayesha White. Based on adult voting, the Best Overall Ranch award was earned by The Hurricane Wranglers Ranch, featuring Raelyn Gatson, Rylee Hallinan, Marifer Lopez, Salem Miller, and Esmeralda Ventureno.
