Commissioners talk reserve deputy constables, autopsies

[Video below] Wilson County commissioners are considering utilizing reserve deputy constables. During the commissioners’ June 23 meeting, Pct. 1 Constable Santiago “Jimmy” Morales — with the support of Bexar County Constable Ruben Tejeda — discussed the need for additional help and the function of deputy constables. While the program is still under development, Morales said that the positions would be on a “volunteer” basis, and the deputies would assist with civil process, including court security. They would provide their own vehicles and equipment. The individuals selected also would be required to hold a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) license....
