Gov. John Connally visits his hometown

John Connally of Floresville was sworn in as Texas governor on Jan. 15, 1963. He and his family made their first visit home soon after, to meet the governor’s new nephew, Merrill Lee Connally Jr. The little one was born Jan. 18 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Floresville. In the photo, published Jan. 25, 1963, Gov. Connally and his family are pictured with Sister Mary Consolata, who was the administrator of the hospital at the time.
