FELPS conducts transformer swaps

Floresville Electric Light & Power System (FELPS) crews perform a “Jack and Slide” method July 17 to move a 15-megavoltampere (MVA) transformer at the Eagle Creek substation north of Floresville into position for transportation to the Sutherland Springs substation. As part of the utility’s transformer optimization plan, a new 40-MVA transformer at Eagle Creek will be installed next to the remaining 40-MVA transformer to support the load for the Floresville area (see “FELPS to deploy bird deterrent project; talks transformer swaps,” July 2).
