Cuero outlasts La Vernia in scoring fest at Gobbler Stadium

The La Vernia Bears traveled to Gobbler Stadium in Cuero on Friday, Sept. 5 in a non-district game that saw a La Vernia comeback fall short for a 49-41 Cuero victory. Cuero started the scoring on the first play from scrimmage with an 81-yard touchdown run by Gobbler Camelo Perez for a 7-0 lead. The Bears responded with a 35-yard touchdown pass from junior Cooper Null to junior wide receiver Wyatt Frank to tie the score 7-7.
