Pena receives Floresville ISD's character award

Floresville Middle School Assistant Principal Sanjuanita “Coco” Peña (center) receives the Community of Character Award from the Floresville Independent School District trustees (back), Superintendent Jason Gilstrap (left), and Floresville Middle School Principal Jim Reily (right) during the Sept. 8 board meeting. Peña saved a student from a potentially life-threatening situation Aug. 21 when she discovered a student choking and performed the Heimlich maneuver to clear the student’s airway. The award recognizes her commitment and dedication to the students of Floresville ISD.
