Juan Seguin statue ceremony Oct. 26

Celebrate the 25th anniversary of the dedication of Juan Seguin’s statue in the city named after him Sunday, Oct. 26, and the Texas hero’s birthday at the same time. The celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Seguin Event Center, 950 S. Austin St. in Seguin. The event will feature two speakers: •Frank de la Teja, who will talk about Seguin’s mother, Maria Josefa Becerra Seguin •Janice Woods Windle, author of the award-winning book and miniseries, “True Women.” Twenty-five special prizes will be awarded to commemorate the anniversary.
