A sign honoring Charlie Kirk, the founder of conservative advocacy organization Turning Point USA who was assassinated Sept. 10, goes up Oct. 3 on a site between U.S. 87 and Chihuahua Street in La Vernia. Kirk, 31, was shot and killed while speaking at an event on the campus of Utah Valley University. Wilson County residents also honored Kirk’s memory at a candlelight vigil Sept. 13 in the La Vernia City Park. The nonprofit Turning Point USA plans a “faith, family, and freedom” event next February, opposite the NFL Super Bowl halftime program.
