Meet Jesse Lane Tiner, who built the Tiner-Hendrick House in Sutherland Springs in 1887; efforts are underway to raise funds to move the house and restore it. Jesse Lane Tiner (1847-1932) was born in Mississippi but traveled with his family as a young child to settle in La Vernia, Texas. His father, John Francis Tiner, was one of the original settlers along the Cibolo in the 1850s. Their old homeplace was near the Gonzales Crossing.
