Area fire departments receive $25,000 equipment grants

Thanks to a historic investment by the 89th Texas Legislature, fire departments in and around Wilson County are among the 687 departments receiving Texas A&M Forest Service grants from an approved total of .6 million in funding for fire and rescue equipment grants and 66 dry hydrant grants awarded through the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program in early December.
