Burn pile fire spreads to grass in Floresville

Wilson County Emergency Services Districts (ESD) 1 and 2 respond to a grass fire Jan. 3 in the 600 block of Cherry Ridge north of Floresville. According to ESD 2 Chief Alex Lopez, the fire originated with a burn pile on the property, which reportedly caught fire unintentionally, and then spread to the grass around it, threatening a trailer and shed nearby. The trailer was a total loss, Lopez said, while the shed sustained slight fire damage; about a quarter of an acre of grass surrounding the burn pile also was damaged.
