Do you remember 'Dan'?

You may not have seen “Dan,” but you might remember all the fuss caused last autumn, as a Double-striped Thick-knee bird visited South Central Texas. It was dubbed “Dan” by Cutter Coleman, who first spotted the rare visitor with his sister, Cricket, as they were leaving their family property Sept. 14, 2025, on their way to church. Their dad, Micah, sent photos of the bird to his mother, Ginger Coleman, who loves the natural world.
