The Nixon-Smiley Lady Mustangs opened the 2026 softball season on a strong note Feb. 17, earning an 11–8 victory over the Yorktown Kittycats in their home opener. The win marked a successful debut for first-year head coach and Nixon-Smiley alumna Kendra Smith, who begins her tenure leading the program with momentum and excitement.
