ECISD sets consequences after student ICE walkouts

A number of East Central Independent School District (ISD) students have been disciplined, after leaving classrooms Feb. 13 to participate in demonstrations against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). State law requires school districts to address unexcused absences related to walkouts and prohibits school systems from facilitating disruptions during the instructional day.
