Mustangs dominate Bloomington in opener

The Nixon- Smiley Mustangs baseball team opened their home season in dominant fashion Feb. 19, defeating Bloomington 18–2 in front of a strong home crowd. The Mustangs came out aggressively at the plate, scoring early and often while capitalizing on timely hitting and disciplined at-bats. Nixon-Smiley’s offense stayed hot throughout the game, stringing together hits and taking advantage of scoring opportunities to build a commanding lead. Defensively, the Mustangs backed up their pitchers with solid play in the field, limiting Bloomington’s chances and keeping momentum firmly on the home side.
