A second stroke in August 2025 doesn’t stop Patrick Kelly’s plans to pedal his handcycle the more than 270 miles from San Antonio to the Fort Worth-Arlington area in the May 4-9 We Are Project Hero 2026 Texas Challenge. Riding with other physically challenged veterans and first responders lifts participants’ spirits and improves their mental wellness, according to Kelly. “My goals in life are to inspire, motivate … and make people laugh,” the “always a Marine” told the Wilson County News.
