Research turns up Confederates from many ethnic backgrounds

What began as one Wilson County couple’s ancestry research turned into a much wider research project. While tracing their family members back through the American Civil War, Mr. and Mrs. Rusty Harris found a surprising range of ethnic heritages among Confederate Texas soldiers. “My wife is a multigenerational Tejana who was surprised at the number of Tejanos we encountered in our research who were in the Confederate Army,” Rusty told the Wilson County News. “We had just purchased Jerry Thompson’s Vaqueros in Blue and Gray, which had a list [of Tejano Confederates] in the appendix.
