Wilson County commissioners (front) are joined April 13 by child advocates (back) from Children’s Alliance of South Texas-A Child Advocacy Center, Court Appointed Special Advocates of San Antonio, Wilson County Attorney’s Office, and Innovative Network of Knowledge, after commissioners signed a proclamation March 9 declaring April as Child Abuse Awareness month. An estimated 558,899 children were victims of abuse and neglect in the United States in 2022, the most recent year for which there is national data.
