Stockdale has a connection to the recent return by the United States to the moon — and it’s not just that you can see the moon from Stockdale! Janis Clutter, who grew up in Stockdale and attended school there from kindergarten through 12th grade, had a part in the success of the Artemis II mission and the Orion spacecraft in its flyby of the moon earlier this month, which set a new human distance record.
