Recent rainfall leads to burn ban expiration

[Video below] “I’m more than comfortable allowing the burn ban to expire,” Wilson County Fire Marshal Carl Fowner told county commissioners April 27. As of April 26, there is no burn ban in the county. Commissioners imposed the 91-day ban Jan. 26, when the average Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) was 675. The index is used to determine fire potential and measures surface moisture on a scale of 0 to 800, with 800 representing the absolute driest of conditions.
