Will Fair Oaks wastewater spill affect Cibolo Creek in Wilson County?

Flooding from the recent severe thunderstorms didn’t only bring concerns about evacuation along Cibolo Creek. As the creek swelled with the heavy rainfall and overflowed its banks July 15 in areas such as Boerne and Schertz, another concern arose: The flooding caused damage to the wastewater pumps in Fair Oaks Ranch near Boerne. This triggered a spill of 75,000 gallons of wastewater into Cibolo Creek. That amount of spillage could adversely affect the creek’s health, along with raising health concerns for marine life, soil, and communities downstream of the spill, including New Berlin, La Vernia, Sutherland Springs, Stockdale, Falls City,...
