Wilson County Historical Commission Chairman Anthony Delgado (left) displays the Land Legacy Award with County Judge Hank Whitman Aug. 10, after county commissioners approved the historical commission’s recommendation that the award to go to Ruth Mueller Ander. Her grandfather acquired over 200 acres of land on both sides of Cibolo Creek near Sutherland Springs in 1915; the family has continued to own the land since then. The Legacy Land Award honors families who have stewarded the same piece of land in Wilson County for at least 75 or 100 years.
