Beware the 'bad bots' -- a WCN editorial

Newspapers’ webpages are being overrun with bots. Content written by and for real people is grabbed by millions of automated crawlers that continually comb the internet. These automated crawlers often are from foreign countries — China being one of the main culprits — that essentially steal content from those who created it. These bad bots slow down pages for users and undermine the painstaking work by human publishers and reporters to provide quality local coverage of news and events for readers.
