Dupuytren's contracture causes your fingers to curl inward and become permanently bent. The condition progresses with the thickening and shortening of fibrous tissue in the palm of the hand. The exact cause of Dupuytren's contracture is in question, but I will say more about that later. Symptoms start with small, hard nodules in the palm of the hand. Over time the thickening of the fibrous tissue around the tendons gradually bends the fingers, usually starting with the ring or little finger.
