Season 2 • Episode 1

Some dreams never leave us.

After nearly three years away, I’m returning to A Dreamer’s Guide to Life to share why this podcast has been calling me back and what finally gave me the courage to press record again.

In this first episode of Season 2, I’m opening up about the seasons that changed me—from postpartum depression and losing myself beneath the many roles I carry, to rediscovering the dreams that never truly went away.

This isn’t just the return of a podcast.

It’s the beginning of a new chapter.

If you’ve ever felt like you’ve lost yourself, questioned your purpose, or wondered if it’s too late to start again, I hope this conversation reminds you that your dreams are still waiting for you.

Because dreams don’t expire.

Welcome to a Dreamer's Guide to Life. Whether this is your first episode or you've been with me from the beginning, I hope you'll find encouragement, inspiration, and a place where you can relate and feel like you belong. Here, a dream is defined as the hopes and goals you have for yourself and your life. Through honest conversations, real stories, meaningful guests, and lessons I've learned along the way, my hope is to encourage you to keep believing what's possible for your own life. If you enjoy what you hear and the podcast brings you inspiration, please follow and share with someone who needs it. I appreciate you stopping by. I'm Christine Edmusillo, and here is your episode. Hello, dreamers. Welcome back to a dreamer's guide for life. It's been a minute. I know it's been a few years. I was like thinking about it. I'm like, yeah, yeah, it's been a few years since I've been on here. Um, a lot of technology has come across and a lot of things that I've discovered now over the years, having several podcasts, being on several podcasts, and having Herm's House podcast. And so this has been calling back to my heart for some time now to come back and do a dreamer's guide to life, where it's my own format, my own sit down, where I get to talk all things feelings, all things dreams, all things hopes and goals, all things that like you need to get through the day. Sometimes you just feel alone and like you're the only one going through these things. But I notice as you talk or share with people, there's a lot of people out there feeling the same way you are. And I just hope to bring those stories and those learning lessons to the airwaves, more so than I do with Herm's House. This one is gonna be more touchy feely, it's gonna be more of me and my advice, talking relationships, talking momming, talking about like how to reach your dreams and goals you have for yourself, like how to find yourself again after you like are being a mom, after you have a job. Like, imagine that little girl, little boy, little person that you were back when the world seemed so innocent, back when things didn't quite make sense, and you had the most vivid imagination of all the things that you could have been, or all the things that you could be, or all the things that you want to be. And that little person just had all of these dreams just pent up inside of them. And I think sometimes as we go through life, we lose that part of ourselves. I know I have. So I can let's put that out there. So I know I have lost that person every once in a while. I get lost in all the hats I have to wear as a person, right? Uh, being a wife, being a mom, being an employee, being a daughter, being a sister, being a granddaughter. I think sometimes I feel like I lose myself in that, right? Because I'm trying to be the best person in those roles for those people. Um, and then sometimes I feel lost. I have gotten lost. Um, when I first did a dreamer's guide, I really wanted to have this platform to really speak out to others to like feel like a belonging, right? Like you're not the only one. We all go through this. And as I was going through that, uh, which is kind of crazy, um, I was in postpartum depression. And I didn't know that. I think what I see and what a lot of people, some people go through when they're in depression is they try to make other people happy and they make other people feel good because that's kind of what they need in their life at that time. And I think for me, I think that's what I was trying to do. Um had gained a lot of weight after COVID, after my pregnancy. I just didn't really feel like myself. I felt lost in my body. Um, but I share, shed like that kind of layer just a little bit to kind of come out here and talk to people about how I was feeling or um how to reach out to your dreams and how to build up of what you want to do. I was making a lot of reels and a lot of funny videos. You can still go back and watch that. You can still go back and listen to all those episodes that I made. And I truly felt those things, but what I realized is I was hiding a layer of sadness. I was hiring hiding a layer of hopelessness, right? So because I I started to guide to guide, I started my yeah, I guess guiding myself. No, I started to find this path that I wanted to take, and it just didn't really work out, and I felt like a huge failure, and I felt like things were gonna work out, and I started getting done on myself. It really turned really bad really fast, and I don't think a lot of people noticed it because I just put on a strong facade and I try to be there for everybody, and I try to show up best I can. Uh, so it was really hard for me for a while until I realized like, there's something wrong. There's a reason I feel this way, and I kind of dug deep into it. When I was initially doing a dreamer's guide to life, it really called to me and I really enjoyed it back then. It was really hard to edit and it was really hard to put things together. But now there's so many wonderful programs that I can use to edit, to put things out to social media. It's like a whole new journey, a whole new season, a whole new chapter of a dreamer's guide to life, and I'm so excited to bring it to the audience. So I will going to try and keep like when I talk by myself shorter formats because uh who wants to listen to me just talk for an hour, like some of the Herms House podcast episodes. Though mostly it's Herm doing the talking, if you know what I mean, if you listen to Herm's House Podcast. Um, but this is going to be me, and I really want to talk about those topics that I feel or I am going through that might help others out there. And I also want to bring on guests of uh that have gone through things or that are following their dreams and chasing what they always imagined to be, but then also how to like break through some boundaries and break through some walls that you might have put up for yourself that really don't need to be there, and you have the support here to walk you through that now. So I'm so excited. I like it really has been calling to me now for years, and I think I've just been afraid to jump back in and be like, well, what is everybody gonna think? Well, it failed. And I I have this like imposter syndrome in my head of like everybody's judging me, and everybody's like, oh wow, she's gonna do this again, and no one wants to hear her talk, and no one wants to hear what she has to say. I have all these like inner, inner saboteurs, right, that are just putting me down, and so many things that I'm like, well, you know what, I can't do it today because I just like woke up on the wrong side of the bed, or I can't do it today because you know, I have like this pimple on my face, and I don't want to see that. You know what? I can't do it today. Like, I was just coming up with all these excuses on not on how and why not to continue on with the dreamer's guide to life, even though it was like my baby, and it's something that I really like aspire to, but these things just kept coming up coming up in my life. I'm it's funny because as I look up my little box, my little square thingy here. I don't know if it's backwards on your screen if you're watching, um, but if you're listening, I have a little cube behind me that says follow your dreams. And um I feel like my dreams are there and they're keep they're they're keeping me going. There's like this little fire in you. And if I I don't know if you've experienced this, but I have. When something like is calling to you and you're like, I have to do it, I should do it, but then there's like things fighting against you to not do it, it's almost like these two inner things fighting between what you should be doing, what you want to be doing, what you have to be doing, and like trying to juggle all of those things. But Dreamer's Guide to Life has been something that I've been wanting to get back to as we've been navigating. I love doing Harms House Podcast, I love doing Beautiful Sunday Podcast. Um, but I think this one is for me, and this one is for you guys out there to just kind of feel like you belong to experience this belonging, to experience this community to build and grow and develop and chase those dreams that you have out there, and and those doubts and those things that are holding you back. Hopefully, you we can help break through them together. Hopefully, I can give you tools that I used that got me through the depression I was in, that brought me back to podcasting and brought me back to you guys out there in the world. So I'm gonna keep this episode super short because I just wanted to put out the introduction because it's been calling me. I felt ready. I was like, I need to drop these things now, I need to get them out of my head, I need to share that a dreamer's guide to life is back. Um, I can't wait to start looking for guests and people that want to be on the show to share their stories, how they chased their dreams, how they got through some of their trials and tribulations, on you know, what was holding them back on getting to their dreams, or maybe people that are just still trying to figure that out because I think I I find myself in that place too, where I'm like at a crossroads of what is the next step? What do I actually want? What do I actually need? And then sharing that space with all the hats that I wear, like we talked about. So I'm so excited to be back and so excited to share this all with you and all the things that you I have going on in my life. I mean, if you're listening to Herm Cells Podcast, you're probably hearing a lot of them. Um, but now you kind of get to hear my point of view, and I don't get cut off by doing it anymore, Herm. Lol. I said hello, laugh out loud. I can literally laugh out loud, but here I am saying it. What a millennial I am. Um, and all of us, yes, millennials, uh feeling relatable in that sense, right? Of the things that we're going through. I feel like we're in our mid-30s, early 40s now, right? Oh, oh, that's crazy, aging. Um, but it's a new season of my life, it's a new chapter. I'm excited to be here. I'm excited to share with you the journey I've been from when I first started a dreamer's guide to life to now and guide you through that. And hopefully it helps someone out there. If I can just help one person going through this life and their journey and the things that they need or want, I think that is the goal here of a dreamer's guide to life is to just give you a platform to see those things. Uh, and thank you for choosing me and thank you for listening to my rants because I do do them a lot, and I might get off topic and I might like go left or right, and I might forget what I'm seeing, and I might just ramble on. But I appreciate you for sticking it through and listening with me, and I hope you're along for the guide. Let's create this map, let's create this community to help people come together and grow and continue to find that little person in them and remember those hopes and dreams, remember those things that made them happy and bring them to our life today and how we can share that. And I think happier people have happier lives, are kinder and can see things in better lights. Because when you see the positive things and you start you start talking the positive things, you start feeling the positive things, and you start to see more positive things in your life. I truly believe that. Um, I know that because when I sit in my ruts and I sit in my negativity and I sit in my sadness, I only see what the bad things. And it's a psychological thing too. And um, I think I read a book on it, and I can probably find the book. Um, but I don't have it today, and I didn't prepare today because today I was like, you know what? I'm just making the choice to record my first episode. Well, I have a little bit of time after work in between when everybody gets home or everybody's away when it's quiet, and my little Gordy, my my seven-year-old is not here to be like, mommy, mommy, mommy, and my husband's not here, and I'm like talking my off, and all those things. I love them all so much. But sometimes us moms just need a moment to ourselves, the quiet, the peace where we get to think and work through what's going on in our days and and what's happening. It helps us to be better people, but overall, if we're better people, we're better in those roles that we have. So that being said, I can't wait to continue this journey with y'all. And I can't wait to bring you the content that you guys have been craving for the last three years. I think it was three years. I'm gonna look back, but I think it was 2023 that I did a dreamer's guide. Don't quote me on it. You can I could probably just go look at my app right now and tell you what it is, but we are back, and I am back, and I'm here for you, and I'm ready to hit the ground running. Um, I haven't decided yet on how often I'm gonna drop episodes, but hopefully keeping them short and sweet will be helpful in creating more and doing them quickly and not giving too much at one time to feel like it's overwhelming to do it because I feel like you deserve you all deserve it. And I feel like this helps me somewhat give something to my life that I've been feeling like I need to give. So I feel like I'm rambling. I it's funny, just quick side note. Um, Herm David, my husband, says two sonins take the longest to say goodbye. I think it's like just culturally overall, too. It's because we'll say, Okay, we're gonna say bye now, and then we'll like hug and kiss, and like uh, okay, we're gonna do this, and we'll see you later, and blah blah blah. And like someone will bring up another topic, and then you're talking for another like five to ten minutes, and you're like, Okay, well, okay, we're gonna go now. Okay, you hug again, and then you talk for like another five to ten minutes about something else that came to your head while you were saying goodbye. Uh, that's me right now. And it's probably because I don't want to leave yet, because I'm super excited about a dreamer's day delights. But it is time because I have to get ready to go do all the things that I do as a mom for the rest of my evening. So, thank you all who stopped by to listen. Until next time, keep chasing your dreams, and I'll be here waiting for you so we can figure out this life together. See you later, dreamers.
