Do you feel forced to choose between building a successful real estate business and being fully present in the areas of life that matter most? Are you a high-performing Christian realtor feeling worn down by the real estate grind—trying to follow God while the industry pushes hustle at all costs? Does your business look great on paper, but your work-life balance and peace at home feel off?
I’m so glad you’re here.
The Faithful Agent is a podcast for real estate agents who want to grow a successful business without burning out or losing what matters most. This show helps you build real estate systems and structure that put you back in control of your time—so you can grow your income, stay present at home, and experience real peace in business.
Inside the podcast, you’ll learn how to:
- Build systems and leverage that help you sell more homes without working more hours
- Create predictable income for realtors so financial pressure doesn’t follow you home
- Replace burnout and the real estate grind with intentional, faith-driven business growth
The goal isn’t just becoming a more successful realtor.
It’s building a business and schedule you actually enjoy now—not someday—one that lets you win at work without losing what matters most.
Hey, I’m Garrett—husband, dad of five, and high-producing real estate agent.
For years, I chased the industry’s definition of success—more deals, more money, more recognition—while quietly missing family dinners and date nights. I was productive, but I was becoming a burned-out realtor, and my faith and peace were taking a back seat.
I realized that if I wanted real freedom in this business, I couldn’t just work harder—I needed a solid framework, better structure, and smarter real estate systems.
So I built a plan that honored my faith and my family, not just my production goals. A few simple, intentional strategies allowed me to grow my business, sell a high volume of homes, and still be present at the dinner table every night.
Now, through realtor coaching and this podcast, I help other real estate agents do the same.
If you’re ready to build structure that honors God—so your business can grow while your family still gets the best of you—you’re in the right place.
So grab your coffee, dust off that Bible, and let’s dive in.

What if your biggest business problem isn't that you're working too hard — it's that you're working as the wrong person? In this Quick Cut, Garrett opens with a simple question: who wins in a race between a Lamborghini and a nine-passenger van? The answer is obvious. But the real question — the one most agents never ask — is why are you trying to become a Lamborghini when you were designed to be something else entirely?
Garrett breaks down one of the most common and costly mistakes in real estate: chasing someone else's version of success. The industry has convinced agents that there's one way to win — cold call, door knock, buy leads, grind on social media. But that model doesn't account for the fact that you were specifically and intentionally wired by God to operate in a way that's unique to you. When you ignore that, you don't just underperform — you burn out.
Drawing from his own experience with anxiety attacks in late 2023 and early 2024, Garrett gets personal about what happens when misalignment goes unchecked. He shares how Psalm 131 became an anchor in that season, and how he came to understand that burnout isn't always about overwork — it's often about the exhaustion of pretending to be someone you're not.
This episode is a call to stop running the wrong race and start building toward who you were actually made to be.
Key Takeaways
- The industry has failed agents, not the other way around. New agents come in with no clear pathway and are handed a one-size-fits-all model for success. Most never question it — and that's where the problem starts.
- Misalignment eventually leads to burnout. Garrett shares how operating outside his design — including starting an Amazon business that had nothing to do with who he is — contributed to a serious anxiety attack. Operating against your wiring is like running into the wind all day. You can't sustain it.
- Albert Einstein said it best. If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its whole life believing it's stupid. There are a lot of fish in real estate being told to climb trees — and they're wondering why they keep failing.
- Success is less about effort and more about alignment. Garrett built his entire business — over 650 homes sold — through relationships alone. No cold calls. No door knocking. No open houses. Not because he's special, but because he understood how he was wired and leaned into it instead of away from it.
- The comparison trap is real and costly. Social media has made it easier than ever to look at what other agents are doing and feel like you're falling behind. That constant comparison, stacked on top of industry pressure, pushes agents further from their own design.
- You don't need to become someone different. You need to get better at being you. The goal isn't an excuse for laziness — it's a call to pursue excellence within your design. What do you naturally love? What are you already good at? Go deeper there.
- God made you on purpose. Your wiring, your strengths, your way of doing business — none of it was accidental. Honoring that design and pursuing excellence within it is how you honor the One who made you.
- Everybody wins when they operate inside their design. The Lamborghini wins the race. The van wins the road trip. The fish wins underwater. Michael Jordan wins on the basketball court. Your breakthrough may not come from trying harder — it may come from finally becoming more fully yourself.

Quick question who wins in a race? A Lamborghini or a nine passenger van? Easy answer. Right. The Lamborghini. But now, let me ask you a harder question. Why are so many agents trying to turn themselves into Lamborghinis when they were actually designed to be something completely different? Because that's what's happening in business right now. People are burning themselves out. Trying to become someone else's version of success. They're trying to sprint when they were built to carry people. They're trying to cold call when they're naturally relational. Trying to become loud when they're naturally thoughtful. Trying to hustle like everyone else. Because the industry convinced them there's only one way to win. But what if the goal isn't becoming the fastest thing on the road? What if the real goal is becoming exceptional at what you were actually made for? All right, everybody, we're going to try something different today. And don't hate on me too much. I've been doing this for five and a half years, and I'm kind of running out of Christian dad jokes. So if you know anyone, I hope you'll send them to me. Garrett at Garrett maroon. Com shoot me an email. So instead, I figured we'd go find some of the funniest Christian pickup lines that are out there. You know, taking a chance. And if you're a single guy listening to this, you're welcome. I hope that these help you in your life. I don't even know what to say right there, but let's give it a shot. Now I know why Solomon had 700 wives. Because he never met you. And how many times do I have to walk around you to make you fall for me? Go read Joshua six. If you don't know the story of Jericho and the walls falling, I hoped you enjoyed those Christian pickup lines. And if not, you know, keep it to yourself. All right, on to the episode. I think most agents lose because they're competing in races. They were never built to run. You know, my philosophy and idea is I just think the industry is wrong. It's not so much that agents have failed the industry, it's that the industry has failed agents. Because you come into this industry and no one gives you a very clear pathway. They tell you that this is what success looks like, as if a quote unquote successful agent is cut from the same cloth that everybody is, that they all cold call, they all door knock. They all buy leads. They're all on social media. And we become convinced because we don't know better. We're trying to be good stewards. We're trying to understand. We're trying to listen to what successful people are telling us. And we don't know better. So we just take it on, and then all of a sudden we start running the wrong race. Albert Einstein once said, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing it is stupid. And the reality is, there's a ton of fish in our industry that would be amazing at swimming, but everyone's telling them, no, you got to climb a tree to succeed. And not only that, we have a comparison trap, which we all know. I mean, I was just on Instagram and I caught myself after three minutes. Why am I scrolling? I'm looking and seeing what other agents are doing. And I start thinking, oh, I should be doing that. Why am I not growing my team? Why am I not doing this? And the comparison trap, all of that, combined with what we were taught in the industry, that this is what success looks like. It just leads to everyone trying to become the same type of agent. That's the problem. The industry is trying to turn all of us into the same type of agent. The cold calling, the social media pressure, the non-stop hustle, the always on culture. But a van loses trying to race a Lamborghini every time, but a Lamborghini loses trying to carry eight kids and luggage across the country. You are a follower of Jesus in this industry, and your job is to align with who the Lord made you to be. Not sit there wishing you were someone else because you weren't and the Lord didn't make a mistake. He made you on purpose and we have to embrace that and pursue what excellence looks like in that. Remember that Michael Jordan, probably the greatest basketball player of all time, had a baseball career. Now, you may not know that because it wasn't a very good one. Probably the greatest athlete of all time tried to play another sport. And I guarantee you, he put as much energy and passion as he did into the game of basketball. But guess what? He was only okay at baseball, but he was phenomenal at basketball. If you put Michael Phelps the greatest swim in perhaps in in all of history up against a fish, which one is going to hold their breath longer under water? Will the fish obviously, because that's what it was made for. Well, the question then is not how do you become Michael Jordan? The question is, what were you made for? In my experience, success is often less tied to effort and more tied to alignment. The problem is not always that you're bad at business. The problem often is you're just operating outside your design. I built my entire business, and any of you who have listened to this show for any amount of time, I built my entire business by relationships. I didn't cold call. I've never done that, I didn't Dornoch, I've never done that. I've never even hosted an open house. I didn't do it by pretending to be someone else. And I'm not special. I'm not special. I just understood that this was how I was wired and my job wasn't to look like everyone else. I don't look like everyone else. Just go to the mall. Two people go to the mall anymore, I don't know, but go somewhere and just look around. I was coming back from speaking at an event sitting in the Atlanta airport. And guess what? Every single human looks different. So why do we fall prey to the idea that every single agent must look the same and their business? Here's the best news I can give you. Apart from the gospel, which is the best news? The best news I can give you in your business today is that you can succeed by being yourself. You don't need to become somebody different now. You need to get better at being you. You need to pursue excellence. It's not an excuse to just be lazy and do nothing, but you get to succeed at being you. What do you love to do? What are you naturally good at? Just go. Be even better at it and become a master at that one thing. Why? Because the God of the universe created you to be that way. And we honor him by pursuing excellence in that. I remember that I had an anxiety attack. Again, if you've read my book or if you've heard me talk about it at the end of December of 2023, and then a much larger one in January of 2024. And what I realized going through that, and I hope none of you have ever had that experience, though I'm certain that some of you had. And I and I empathize, I get it. It was scary. But what I realized as I was coming out of that and trying to understand what happened, what led me to that, I was led to Psalm 131, where King David says, I do not occupy myself with things too great or too marvelous for me, but I have calmed and quieted my soul. What I realized was I was trying to do too much. My mom had passed away at the end of 2022. I just overreacted, was so worried I had to figure everything out all at once because life is short. And honestly, I burnt out. I was trying to do too much and I did multiple things like starting an Amazon business that didn't align with me at all, and I didn't understand everything was just building and building and building until there's one massive moment of an anxiety attack. And what I realized was misalignment eventually just leads to burnout, because I'm operating with the wind in my face all day instead of at my back, and I just can't sustain it. I'm human. A lot of burnout isn't just overwork, it's the exhaustion of pretending. Imagine. And maybe you don't have to imagine because you felt it. How tiring it is to put a fake image of success on social media, to live someone else's scoreboard, trying to win based on their definition of what winning looks like. The industry has told us to become someone else instead of becoming excellent at who we already are. And that's not what the Lord wants from us. He said, I made you brother. I made you sister. I made you son. I made you daughter for a specific reason. The way you look, how tall you are. Your skill sets, the way you're wired was on purpose, not by accident. So don't run away from who you are. Become more excellent at it. Because who wins? The Lamborghini wins the race. The van wins the road trip, the fish wins underwater, and Michael Jordan wins on the basketball court. Everybody wins when they operate inside their design. And maybe brother or sister, your breakthrough is not going to come from trying harder. Maybe it's going to come from finally becoming more fully yourself. Because I believe when you align, you succeed. You do not have to become someone else to build something meaningful. You don't have to run someone else's race. You just need the courage to fully become what you were already designed to be. I love you, faithful agents. I hope this is an encouragement to you. And if it was, will you do two things for me? Number one, I'd love to hear from you. Who do you know that I should have on the show? What topics do you want me to talk about? This is about you. I'd love to hear from you. Shoot me an email.
