Welcome to Permission for Pleasure. I'm Cindy Sharky, your host. I'm delighted that we're learning alongside one another here on the podcast. Thanks so much for being part of this listening community. We are getting ready to wrap up season two, and I wanted to bring back one of my favorite pleasure practices. If you've been around the podcast for a while, you would have heard it in episode 14, but it's one that can be revisited often. Because learning and communicating your erogenousones never gets old. I wanted to share a pleasurable touch exercise that I just find so nourishing and so simple. Often, you know, we give touch the way we want to receive it. So our partner may enjoy touch differently than we do. And since everyone doesn't enjoy touch the same way, it's important to revisit the conversation about touch often and communicate to our partner how and where we enjoy being touched. And also to ask our partner and listen to where they enjoy being touched. If you know each other extremely well, this exercise may play out a little differently than if you're very new to one another. But either way, have fun, listen well, communicate honestly, and enjoy intentionally giving and receiving touch with each other. You can do this regularly as a couple or regularly with yourself. Remember, we we change, we shift, we grow, and where we enjoy touch can also change and shift and grow. So this is a kind of conversation and exercise that you can do often and revisit often together. And it's very simple, friends. So basically, what you're going to do is take turns touching each other's body all over. That's really it. But we're going to add a few things so that you can communicate well. So you'll start at your partner's feet, or you'll start at the top of their head, and you'll move over their whole body everywhere but the genitals. So if you start at the feet, you'll move up their calves, up their knees, up their thighs, you'll make your way all the way to the top of their head. Or you'll begin at the head and move down their face, to their neck, to their shoulders, and so forth. You want to tell each other how and where the touch is most pleasurable for you. So what I mean by that is you can use a simple rating system that just feels comfortable for you, but you do want to listen and take note of what your partner says is their pleasure zone. So a simple system could be like zero to five. Zero sort of means that doesn't really do much for me. Five would be that's my favorite. You get the picture. Or you could hum, hum, or murmur quietly to loudly to indicate pleasure, or simply say yes, no, or maybe. That just feels better for you. Whatever you want to do. But you find some kind of system to indicate your level of pleasure with that area of touch. You can add some fun options into this. You could use a massage oil or a massage candle. You could blindfold the partner that's being touched to heighten their senses. You could take this information that you learn in this touch session to the next level and include the genitals. So making sure that you touch all the areas they communicated are the most pleasurable to your partner, and then adding in genitals. It's kind of step two. But really, this is a wonderful exercise and so easy to do, and one that again, I'd love you to revisit often because touch is so important, and it's a wonderful, just nourishing exercise to do together with a partner. Perhaps you want to save this episode to refer back to, to remind yourself to revisit it often, or it also is available in a blog style over on cindysharky.com. You can just type in touch in the search bar and it'll come up for you there if you need a little reminder and you want it in words. And that's it. Thank you again for being part of this community. And if you are enjoying the podcast and you want to help the show continue and to grow, I invite you to share this episode with a friend or with a partner as a way to introduce them to the podcast, or perhaps take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple. That just makes a big difference in people finding the show. So thanks for considering doing that. And I want to wrap up this thank you episode with a poem that one of you from the community sent me, a Mary Oliver poem that goes perfectly with this touch exercise. It's called Except for the Body. Except for the Body of Someone You Love, including all its expressions in privacy and in public. Trees, I think, are the most beautiful forms on the earth. Though admittedly, if this were a contest, the trees would come in an extremely distant second. Thank you for sending that in and perhaps use these words along with the touch exercise to communicate your desire and appreciation for your own body and your partners. It truly does help you learn to give yourself permission for pleasure.
