The authors of Secrets of Romani Fortune Telling present: Romanistan! Do you love rebels? Do you want to live in a place where outcasts shine their brightest? Welcome to Romanistan! We're your friendly neighborhood Gypsies, celebrating Romani identity and outcast culture, and practicing good diplomatic relations with other marginalized communities.
We love the rebels who are living their truth, even if it clashes with tradition. We also love tradition and honoring our roots. This podcast is for everyone who loves and supports Roma & related groups, and anyone who feels like a misfit and wants to uplift others to create a beautiful community.
We feature pioneers in culture, fashion, art, literature, music, activism, cuisine, and everything good. We adore the intersections of gender, sexuality, spirituality, ability, and identity. We cover all topics, from the difficult to the glorious. Let's sit crooked and talk straight.
Hosted by Paulina Stevens and Jezmina Von Thiele. We reclaim the slur Gypsy, but if you aren’t Romani, we prefer you don't use it. xoxo.
P.S. The Romani people are a diasporic ethnic group originally from northwest India, circa the 10th century. Now, Roma live all over the globe, and due to centuries of oppression, slavery, genocide, and other atrocities, Roma are still fighting for basic human rights. We seek to raise awareness of who Roma are, and highlight Romani resilience, creativity, & culture.

Welcome to Romanistan.
Speaker 2:We're your friendly neighborhood gypsies. I'm Paulina and I'm Jez, and we are here with your tarot reading for the week of August 11th 2025. And we're going to do our classic three card spread that we've been getting into lately for our first times and now our second time. The king of cups is representing love, the page of swords is here to represent money, and then death is our overall guidance. What are you feeling about the king of cups and love, paulina?
Speaker 1:I feel, in general, cups are pretty positive. So the king of cups is representing this kind of masculine energy surrounding your life in general, and sometimes it could even be yourself, but the king of cups is someone that is full of prosperity, and I also feel like it represents good luck in general. So if you have been feeling down, I would say there will be ultimately love coming in your direction in the form of some kind of masculine energy, even if it's your, but that's kind of how I view it. I also feel like it's about just attraction in general. So whenever there's that king energy, it's about attracting energy to you, and so that's basically how I feel it, and I would also recommend you just leading with care and empathy, kind of, as you move forward and navigate. However it is that you want love in your life.
Speaker 2:Yeah, especially with the Page of Cups last week. I feel like the King of Cups is here because you've been doing that, reflecting on how you're really feeling, and now you're becoming more expert in understanding your emotions and holding space for others and asking for what you need, with accountability and awareness and awareness. And the King of Cups can encourage you to use your emotional intelligence and kindness to do good things in your relationships and move them in healthy directions, or making sure that you are approaching them with that self-awareness. I think the Page of Cups can feel kind of celebratory too if maybe you will have achieved something in your friendships or your romantic relationships or even family relationships. You know your ability to diffuse an argument or understand where someone is really coming from. It's such a powerful card around love and healing. And then we have the page of swords for money. How is that coming up for you? I?
Speaker 1:feel like this is about being creative and doing something financially that can benefit you in that creative way, and I also feel like money is my love language Me too.
Speaker 1:I love hustling, I love making you know I love getting other people paid 100, and that's why we're such good friends, because we know what you gotta do and I I think it really represents I I what you have to do in general, and for this week I feel also it is a good follow up Like week before was more about figuring it out, planting the seeds, and now it's about basically starting the hustle. So the opportunities are there, but they, the opportunities, don't mean shit If you don't take a hold, make the phone calls, do whatever you have to do, like you know, that's kind of I believe that's what it's about, and it is challenging and it's not easy. You know the hustle and bustle, life is horrible, but it's also rewarding, um to a degree, and so that's what this week requires for money. It requires you to get out of your comfort zone and suffer just a little bit. I'm sorry.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and you might need to learn some new skills and they might be really intellectually fun and challenging in a good way, but it's a time to put yourself out you know, like you're saying outside of your comfort zone and see what you can learn and what you can master, and be okay with making some mistakes. That will ultimately really pay off because they'll teach you something valuable. It's a good time to be experimental and especially if there's anything that you've been wanting, like any courses or anything you want to been wanting to enroll in, or any books you've been wanting to read, anything that will help you progress. It's time to nerd out, roll up your sleeves, nerd out, get in there. It's time to nerd out, roll up your sleeves, nerd out, get in there. And then death is our overall guidance, and I love the death card, like you know. I don't think there's any reason to be scared of any cards, but what are you feeling with the death card for our guidance for the week of August 11th? I?
Speaker 1:feel like it is a for sure sign to let go of whatever is done and embrace whatever else you want. Embrace whatever the future thing is. It's a huge transformational card. It represents a total death of the version of you. And for it to be in the guidance card, I love that. Like it's not specific, it's not specific to love, it's not specific to money, it's not specific to purpose, like it's literally specific to your soul, like it's just huge transformation. Let go out with the old and with the new. And just because I have a little bit of that, like you know, I don't want to scare anybody or anything, but just because it's in my lineage, okay, I feel like death can sometimes represent death. So if it comes in as a guidance card, maybe it represents like needing to be careful, also putting an extra emphasis on loving your loved ones as well as loving yourself healthy, like I feel like it should draw some attention to life and purpose and that's okay.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you know it's really interesting because I don't always read the death card as death. But a few months ago a loved one was asking me you know, how seriously should they be taking their high blood pressure? And I drew the death card and I was like, babe, you got to take it serious, 10 out of 10. Go get your meds. And so you know. Of course there's like. You know, there's death as actual death, but there's also death as a metaphor and you might feel like a little snake shedding their skin.
Speaker 2:Right now you don't want to hang on to anything that no longer serves you. And now we're at the end of Mercury retrograde and you probably have uncovered some things that you're ready to move on from and uncovered some truths. And the death card is allowing you to release and compost, because when things die, they don't just disappear, they are reclaimed by the earth and they create new growth, and so even endings are beginnings. And if this card is speaking to you in the sense of like, you feel like you're in a little bit of an underworld or in between death and rebirth, like that's OK, that's where you're supposed to be. You will come out on the other side when you're ready. Yes, I love that. Well, thank you everyone for tuning in. We hope you have a wonderful week and remember you can always book with us If you want an online reading from us. I'm at jessminavontelacom, Pauline is at romaniholisticcom, and we love you.
