New Projects And Funding Needs

There's never been a time without it. Hey friends, we just wanted to pop in to correct ourselves. We're gonna be on season six. This is episode one of season six. Five years of podcasting. Wow. Okay. We don't even know what time is. So yeah, we've been doing this for a long time, and we have a really exciting project to announce. Actually, two projects: a book on tarot and a tarot deck. And that's all we can say about it for now. But that is going to require a lot of our time and energy. And also, making this show is super expensive. And we would really love your support if you would like us to keep going. Right now, we can do one episode that's a reading for the month, and then midway through the month, we'll be doing our interviews with amazing Roma people as usual. But if you want to support us and make sure that we can keep doing this, because this show is an archive of Romani stories. You know, this is where the only ones doing it quite like this, although there are wonderful other Romani podcasts out there that we love so much that are archiving Romani stories in their own way. Our card for money for the month of February is the three of wands. Mmm, I like that. What are you liking about this?

So the three of wands is about looking beyond kind of the little society that you are in and venturing on this new journey, kind of like kind of like a backpacker, you know, about to hike all over somewhere. Um basically it's a new beginning and something to look forward to. Like you're not being forced into this financial position. You are actively choosing to take on some new challenges in a new kind of area in your life.

Values, Boycotts, And Mutual Aid

I love that. I think too, I can't help but connect everything to the political situation in the US right now. We are being terrorized by ICE and the Trump regime. And it's really important right now that we invest in our values. And so, you know, boycott companies that are run by billionaires or supporting uh this regime of terror and invest your money in your community if possible. You know, shop small if you need to be shopping, or think about how you and maybe your company or the places you work or the places you make art or collaborate with can all benefit from almost like a renewal of um values and thinking about how community activism can sometimes start really small but ripples out in this huge way. So if you're living in the US right now, it might be a good time to look up uh what kinds of mutual aid or organizations or counter-ice movements are in your area and see what you can do. We all have a role to play, and this is affecting our economy, and um, people are going without or unable to leave their homes to work for fear of being racially profiled, because um, you know, people who are documented immigrants, US citizens, refugees, people seeking asylum, all of these people are being taken off the streets and kidnapped with impunity. And under our constitution, everybody is entitled to due process, whether they're documented or not. And so this uh political state has real economic effects on people. And I feel like this card is really encouraging us to band together and think about a new future and put into action, you know, how do we make that happen?

And one person really can make a difference in the biggest ways in the universe. And I think people really need to understand that. So if you're listening to this, don't think for a minute that like one small action that you do, one act of kindness, one act of solidarity, it all makes a difference. And there are people risking their lives every day to protest this, and it's a war zone where our country is actively just in a war against itself. Um, so yeah, if everybody could stand together, now is the time.

Love Reading: Queen Of Wands

Mm-hmm. Use your voice, and if you need help, you know, don't be afraid to ask. There are people who who want to help. Mr. Rogers is telling us to look for the helpers, and things are scary for the helpers right now, but we're still out there. Then we have the Queen of Wands for Love. Which I love the Queen of Wands personally. Um, one of my favorite cards in the deck.

Yeah, I really like that because I feel like it kind of plays out as a little story. The Queen of Wands is literally about taking control and taking charge and this and also manifestation and growth. And I feel like um wherever you are in the world, I think it's a time where love can really prevail, and to have the Queen of Love in that part, like holy shit, like love in all ways, like loving other people, um, love for yourself, love for your lovers, um, all of those things. I think now is the time for us to focus on love, let love hold us together, and let love lead.

That's so beautiful. I love the creative energy of the Queen of Wands too. And I was just thinking about how I saw someone post somewhere, because I've been doom scrolling, um, you know, does art even matter anymore with, you know, in this political landscape? And a bunch of people were like, yes, and here's why. And I feel like the Queen of Wands is reminding you that that your creativity and your ability to continue to love and connect with people, and whether you're making art to connect with people or you're just having beautiful heart-to-hearts or spending meaningful, meaningful time together, we need to immerse ourselves in things that give us hope, whether those are relationships or you enjoying the arts with someone. We can't be in fight or flight or in you know, hyper-vigilance all the time. We will burn out. And love is such a beautiful place to enjoy this Queen of Wands energy of like, you can do anything and we can do anything together. And if there's something creative you want to put in the world as your expression of love for the world, like this podcast, we always love to say is our love letter to the Romani community. Sometimes they throw it back in our face, but you know, that's fine. A lot they do that. But a lot of you are really so lovely and supportive, and we love hearing about if you enjoy the podcast. We love hearing that, and we love when you tell us, like, oh, I I listen when I'm putting on my makeup or when I'm driving to work. And we love being with you. And so I think it's such a good time to remember that love is a creative force and a creative energy, and you can share it all these different ways, and you should. And then lastly, because it's all wands this month. Whoa, we have the king of wands for guidance.

Art, Connection, And Creative Hope

What do you think about that? It's crazy word, man. So I feel like the king of wands is so interesting. It's leadership on this kind of tough field. And so I feel like it's the queen is more focused on that love and harmony and growth and manifestation and leading in that way. And I feel like the king is telling us that we need to stand firm and we need to stand tall and we need to protect and we need to defend, you know, literally, like defend, defense, bro. Like, we need all of that. We need to fight. Um, I'm not exactly getting it, like, like, yeah, we need to fight, but like what I'm saying is like we need to fight for what we believe in. And in a guidance aspect, it's also giving us a little hint of like everything is gonna be okay. You're gonna be okay. Like, don't worry so much about whatever is going on in your personal life. Like, things are gonna work themselves out. And as long as your heart is in the right place and you're listening to your intuition, you're not gonna be um guided in the wrong direction. You're in control, you're in charge.

Guidance Reading: King Of Wands

Yeah, I always think of this card as a call to action. Like it's like you've had your revelation or your passion is welling within you, or your frustration is welling up, and there's some action that's necessitated by that. You have to make choices. And um, this is really such a helpful card to remind us that now is the time for action. And that can look a lot of different ways. That can look like taking out your camera and filming ice agents, even though it's dangerous, but it must be done. Um, or it could look like speaking up on your platform, especially if you haven't said anything yet. It could also look like boycotting, like you said. Boycotting. Boycotting. And then on the basic things, like if you're finding that your day-to-day life, because this keeps happening to me, where I'm my mind is so full of what's happening in the world, and then I'm like, oh my gosh, also I have to answer emails. The King of Wands can be that power session of like, okay, let's get this done. Let's take an hour and rip through this. Um, and so there might be things in your life this month, the kind of nitty-gritty things that even though you're feeling overwhelmed with the world or you're feeling however you're feeling, this is a fiery, fiery month where it's like connect with your people, build community, be expressive and creative and strategic, and also get shit done. So it's all fire and let's we can get burnt out, but let's try not to. We'll try to pace ourselves and find healthy outlets for it. Yes. Yeah, is there anything else that we want to talk about before we wrap up our first episode of season five?

So we are very proud of ourselves and we so appreciate your support because we couldn't have done it without you. Yeah, so season six, over a hundred episodes. Let's go. Yeah, it's wild. Actually, you know, I do have a thought. Sometimes I understand why people might want to connect and share things, maybe not on social media. And so if you want to hop onto our Patreon and become a member, that's a good place to ask us questions, give us suggestions for episodes, you know, and we get those notifications and everything. We just haven't had the bandwidth to like make extra content over there. But we're happy to um take questions and post, you know, your connections to what we're talking about, or we're like that, might be a nice place to do that. That's a little more private if you're looking for that. And yeah, I think that's it. But we so appreciate you. This has been such an incredible journey and we would love to keep it going. And I'll just throw it out there. This is such a tough time to be asking for this. But if you know of any libraries or educational institutions or organizations that might want to fund a podcast that is an archive of Romani stories, we are so interested. It's it's not a lot of money in the in the big picture to run this, but it's a lot of money for us, and it would really help take the pressure off if we could get some um sponsors. But uh, this is not a project with a lot of commercial value, but it has a tremendous amount of educational value, so just throwing that out there.
