Welcome to this podcast.

Speaker 1:

Well, it has been a minute, and I mean a minute. I can't believe that it has been nearly two years since the last Rediscovering Resilience podcast, since the last Rediscovering Resilience podcast. And first up, thank you, because you're still listening. There are still multiple downloads every week from Rediscovering Resilience. But we stopped Rediscovering Resilience because things were moving on and I was writing a new book. Things were moving on and I was writing a new book. The business was moving in a different direction, in an exciting direction. The new book, unstoppable Living Beyond Our Limits, has been out for over a year. There are nearly 400 copies in circulation across the world, and that was my focus and it took away from this podcast. Well, now we are back and we've changed our name. This podcast is now Unstoppable Force, the business is now Unstoppable Force and you see, the two years off is no big deal really, but what it did do was it allowed me to refocus and really, for this introductory podcast for Unstoppable Force, I just want to remind us all that there's nothing wrong with taking a pause. It is the 6th of January. I hope that we have all taken the opportunity to pause for a few days over Christmas and New Year and done whatever you and your family choose to do to celebrate this season.

Speaker 1:

We had a really weird one this year. Since the last podcast, our kids really have now left home, one of them's in North Island, new Zealand, and one of them's in Queenstown. So we committed to a road trip. We were going to leave our home and drive down to Queenstown to visit our son who was working throughout Christmas. And it all started with it was going to be me, and if we could get the dog into kennels, the holiday hotel for dogs, then Lizzie was going to come with me. Well, things took a turn just before Christmas and River woke up one morning and really made the choice that that was it. And within two hours we had taken our puppy of nine and a half years to the vet and she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. All of a sudden, with River's death, we were able to change our plans for Christmas. So we both set forth on our road trip plans for Christmas. So we both set forth on our road trip.

Speaker 1:

Now, one of the exciting things about Christmas is we normally gift each other chocolate in our stockings. Well, going on a road trip and camping meant that things were going to get warm, so gifts were a little bit different. And then on Christmas night in the campground, our tent decided to give up the ghost. It was raining. I think it was actually raining harder inside the tent than it was outside the tent. We ended up sleeping in the car and we're up first thing on Boxing Day morning to get to the sales and purchase a new tent, which did us for our journey home. We got home, and one in three our eldest daughter and her husband, yep, that happened in the gap as well. They were here to visit and they joined us for New Year.

Speaker 1:

It was hectic, it was different, but it was a good pause. It was the pause that reminded me that it is now a allowed me to reflect on where I chose to take the business. It allowed me to reflect on the time that I spend with my coaches and where the business could, should, go. Let's stop playing small. Let's start living beyond my limits. Time for me to get uncomfortable, and part of that was let's get this podcast moving again.

Speaker 1:

And then I hit the roadblock, the roadblock of well, that means I've got to record another intro. That means I've got to put some music to it. That means I've got to record another intro. That means I've got to put some music to it. That means I've got to start thinking about what I'm going to share on the podcast. And you know what, that time that it took me to get over that roadblock really, with all roadblocks, it was a little bit silly because it's basically taken me a quiet morning to do all of that work and to start recording this podcast.

Speaker 1:

Now, look, I get it, this podcast. It may not be as polished as the Rediscovering Resilience ones got. I've had a break of two years. I'm probably a little bit rusty, but the only way to get started after a pause is to get started knowing it is going to be far from perfect. You don't have to be great to get started, but you have to get started if you're going to be great.

Speaker 1:

So this is the new podcast. There are going to be episodes coming out. I think we've agreed to every week and we're going to be diving into, you know, really, the subject matter of the book Unstoppable, living Beyond Our Limits. It's going to be a place where you can come to, you know, really, just get that kick in the backside when you need it. It's going to be the place that students of the Living Beyond your Limits program can come to to get some extra content in the lead up to their monthly coaching sessions with me or one of the other coaches.

Speaker 1:

It's an opportunity for all of us to continue our journey of resilience, to realize that there are some dark things going on in the world at the moment. So let's have a conversation about them. Let's realize that there is opportunity, there is challenge, there is fun and love right across this world. We watch the media and in two-minute segments they tell us why the world is such a challenging place. But actually, do you know what? I've found? That maybe, if we ignore some of that stuff and take control of what we can control, choose not to conform as we're being expected to, but live a life where we bring our own uniqueness out into the open. That sounds a little bit scary, doesn't it? Bring our own uniqueness out into the open. We can all be unstoppable.

Speaker 1:

The three mantras of unstoppable force are to be unreasonable. Great things are done by unreasonable people. Mediocre things are done by people who choose to conform. So let's be more unreasonable. Second up, let's always be willing to raise our standards. Let's look at what we do and say I can do more, I can do better, I can raise my values and raise my standards, raise my values and raise my standards. And last up, when it comes to our lives, when it comes to being more unique, let us live with more vulnerability.

Speaker 1:

In my military days, we all signed a piece of paper that said we were willing to give the ultimate sacrifice, we were willing to die for our countries. I'm not asking us to do that, but I am suggesting that our old self must die, and our old selves die through being vulnerable. This world says don't be vulnerable, people will take advantage. Well, let's be unreasonable on that one. Let us be vulnerable and hold others to that account. Let's expect vulnerability from one another, because being vulnerable allows us to step into ourselves. It truly allows us to identify where our limits might be and then move beyond them. That's it. I'm excited.

Speaker 1:

This is the first of the new podcast, unstoppable Force listening. And hey, look, comment please. You're going to hear in the end bit of this. I'm going to invite you to comment. Reach out, let's have the conversation. If you've got conversations you want to have, come on the podcast. We're going to have guests. Why couldn't it be you?
