Aug 22, 2021 Episode 27
Cory and Domenica

Welcome to Episode 27!! What do lavender, green carnations, and the trillium all have in common? Yes they’re all flowers - but these flowers, along with many others, have symbolized (officially or unofficially) queer romance or intentions. Since the 6th century BC, friend of the podcast Sappho used violets and ‘purple bloom’ to wax poetic about her lover, and the tradition has stuck. Tune in to learn just how much you could get on a shopping spree with 2500 florin in the 17th century, Domenica’s really crappy attempts at French, and help us spread the word about the new-old slang for corsages and boutonnières.
